Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Gets Unofficial PC Port

Xenoblade Chronicles X is considered one of the best games for the Nintendo Switch. And today, I’m happy to report that PC gamers are now able to enjoy it, as we’ve gotten an unofficial PC port of it.

The PC port comes with an in-game settings menu. You can open it by pressing F1. There is also a performance overlay that you can open with F10. This lets you keep an eye on how the game runs. The port also supports a keyboard, mouse, and gamepad, so you can pick the controls you like best.

Another nice feature is that you only need to build the game once. After that, you can launch it like any other Windows game. When a new version of XCX Recomp comes out, you can run the new setup tool over your old install. Your save files and settings will stay in place.

The game runs at 60 FPS by default. You can also try 120 or 144 FPS, but these are still in experimental mode. Cutscenes and movies stay at 30 FPS, just like on the console. This keeps the subtitles and lip sync in sync. The game speed and battle timing, including Soul Challenges, also stay correct at higher frame rates.

To run it, you will need Windows 10 or newer, an x86-64 CPU with AVX2 support, and a GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3 and the required memory feature. You also need about 36 GB of free space during setup. Once the game is built, it uses about 20 GB.

It’s worth noting that the latest version has fewer stutters. This is because it now uses pipelines saved from past sessions. Before, the game failed to load the file that stores these pipelines. As a result, each session had to build them while you played. Now, the game loads the file and builds the pipelines before it starts. It also uses the shaders prepared by the installer.

The developer has also shared plans for future updates. These include Linux and Steam Deck support, mod support, custom screen sizes, ultrawide support, and VRR. Mods made for emulators may also work by placing them in a mods folder.

You can go ahead and download this PC port from here. As always, it does not contain any in-game assets. To run it, you’ll have to provide your own ROM/disc image.
