Metroid Prime feature by Mykiio

Metroid Prime Unofficial Native PC Port Available for Download

And here comes another one. Earlier today, we informed you about the unofficial PC ports of P.T. and Virtua Fighter Arcade. But you know what? We have another cool PC port of another amazing console-exclusive title. So, here is the unofficial PC port of Metroid Prime, a game that came exclusively on the Nintendo GameCube on November 18th, 2002.

This unofficial Metroid Prime PC port adds many modern features while keeping the original game intact. For instance, it supports 4:3, 16:9, and window-based widescreen modes. It also removes the frame rate cap. The game keeps its original 60Hz logic, but you can run it at higher frame rates. You can also change the FOV, use MSAA, and adjust anisotropic filtering.

PC controls are another big upgrade. You can use a mouse and keyboard or a gamepad. This is a huge deal. I’ve always wanted to play Metroid Prime with a mouse and keyboard. And now, thanks to this unofficial PC port, this is possible. Controls can also be fully remapped, with extra keys for each action. Not only that, but there are controller presets, deadzone settings, mouse sensitivity, aim inversion, crosshair size, and gyro aim.

The port adds save states, skippable cutscenes, a speedrun timer, and LiveSplit support. It also has a tracker that can show items, scans, rooms, and the full map.

And that’s not all. You can use mods, custom texture packs, and HD textures. There are many optional gameplay tweaks as well. These include Fast Morph, Spring Ball, Toggle Lock-On, and Sticky Charge.

Finally, the port supports randomizers and Archipelago. You can also transfer GameCube memory card saves through GCI files or raw card images.

All in all, this looks like the best way to play Metroid Prime on PC. The project is still in beta, so you may run into some bugs. Still, the port is already in very good shape. Plus, things will get better with each new version of it.

You can go ahead and download it from here. As with all PC recompilations, it does not have any in-game assets. To play it, you’ll have to provide your own ROM file.
