Super Mario fans, get ready for a treat. A team of modders is working on an unofficial PC port of Super Mario Odyssey, the hit Nintendo Switch game. So, below, you can watch its first WIP gameplay video.
The video shows Super Mario Odyssey running on a PC. The team uses a Switch static recompiler to make this work. It turns the game’s code into native x86-64 code. It also converts the game’s NVN graphics calls to Vulkan.
To capture this gameplay video, Belmante used an NVIDIA RTX 3050 laptop. This laptop was able to push 58-59FPS in Cap Kingdom.
Now, as you will see, this is still a WIP PC port. There is no audio yet, and there are some graphical bugs. The team is also still working toward a locked 60 FPS with further optimizations.
This is one of the first Nintendo Switch games that will be ported to the PC. Other Switch games with PC ports in development include Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario 3D World, and LEGO City Undercover.
There is currently no ETA for when this unofficial PC port of Super Mario Odyssey will be released. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
