Konami P.T.

Konami’s Canceled Silent Hills P.T. Got an Unofficial PC Port

A few days ago, I informed you about an unofficial PC port of Konami’s canceled Silent Hills P.T. And today, I’m happy to report that this demo is now available for download on PC, allowing PC gamers to experience it natively for the first time.

P.T. was a free playable teaser for Silent Hills, a planned new game in Konami’s Silent Hill series. It was released on the PlayStation 4 in August 2014. The game was made by Hideo Kojima, with Norman Reedus as the main protagonist.

P.T. put players in a strange house with a small hallway. The hallway would loop again and again. Each loop changed small details and added new scares. Players had to explore the area and solve simple puzzles to move forward. The teaser used sound, lighting, and sudden changes to build fear. It also hid a surprise at the end. The reveal showed that P.T. was a teaser for Silent Hills.

Silent Hills was meant to be a full horror game led by Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. However, Konami canceled it in April 2015. After canceling P.T., Konami parted ways with Hideo Kojima. Not only that, but Konami has removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store. But now PC gamers are able to finally experience the real thing.

The reason I say the “real thing” is because we’ve already gotten a lot of fan remakes of it. For example, you can download an Unreal Engine 5 fan remake of it. If you are not a fan of Unreal Engine 5, there is also an Unreal Engine 4 remake available to download. There is even a fan remake made for Half-Life: Alyx. This version lets players experience P.T. inside Valve’s VR game. You can also try a GZDoom demake of it.

The P.T. PC port adds many features made for modern PCs. It supports Windows and Linux and uses Vulkan for its graphics. You can play in windowed, borderless, or fullscreen mode at any resolution. V-Sync can also be turned on or off.

The port supports AMD FSR 3.1, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, and Intel XeSS. It also supports FSR Native AA and DLAA. Frame Generation is available through AMD FSR 3 and NVIDIA DLSS.

There are Low, Medium, Original, High, Ultra, and Custom graphics presets. You can also change many settings on your own. These include shadow quality, ray-traced shadows, ray-traced ambient occlusion, ray-traced reflections, and texture quality. The port can also upscale your own textures with Real-ESRGAN.

It also adds a photo mode and a free camera. You can change the camera, field of view, focus, and flashlight. There is a loop browser, a museum, and a Game+ mode. A speedrun timer tracks each loop and can connect to LiveSplit.

The port supports many languages, plus keyboard, mouse, and gamepads. It also supports mods, third-person view, and experimental VR through OpenXR.

You can go ahead and download the PC port from this link.
