Super Smash Bros feature

Unofficial PC Version of Super Smash Bros. Melee Released

And here comes another one. Earlier today, we informed you about the unofficial PC version of Lost Odyssey. And now, we have an unofficial PC port of one of the best Nintendo GameCube games, Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is a fast-paced fighting game that came out in 2001 on the Nintendo GameCube. It features characters from many Nintendo games, including Mario, Link, Pikachu, Samus, and Kirby. The goal in this game is simple: fight your opponents and knock them off the stage.

Unlike most fighting games, Melee does not use a normal health bar. Instead, each fighter has a damage meter. The more damage you take, the farther you fly when hit. You can then use strong attacks to knock your rivals off the stage.

Melee has many ways to attack. You can use normal attacks, strong smash attacks, special moves, grabs, throws, and aerial attacks. You can also dodge, shield, and recover after being knocked away. Each character has a different set of moves and a unique play style.

The game also has many stages with different layouts and hazards. Some stages are simple and flat, while others have moving platforms and other dangers. This keeps fights fresh and forces players to change their tactics.

Super Smash Bros. Melee offers several game modes. In Classic Mode, you fight a series of opponents and face a final boss. Adventure Mode mixes fighting with short platforming sections. Event Matches give you special fights with unique goals.

The game also has a large selection of unlockable characters, stages, and other content. You can unlock new fighters by playing different modes and meeting certain goals.

The PC version supports both keyboard and gamepads. However, for this particular title, I strongly suggest using a gamepad. PC players can also adjust the internal resolution to get a crisp image. Furthermore, there are some post-processing shaders, including CRT scanlines, and an in-game settings overlay that you can access by pressing F1.

Do note that this PC port is in an early stage. While you can enjoy most of its modes, it does not have online play with rollback netcode. The All-Star Mode is not available, and there is no support for widescreen PC monitors.

You can go ahead and download this unofficial PC port from here. As with all recompilations, it does not feature any in-game assets. As such, you’ll have to provide your own ROM. Right now, the PC port only supports Melee USA revision 2 (NTSC-U 1.02, GALE01).

In case you are into projects like these, you can also download the unofficial PC ports of Super Mario 64Mario Kart 64Crash Team Racing, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. You can also play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TimeMajora’s MaskPerfect Dark, and Jak & Daxter.

Furthermore, Brian Tate has brought the three classic SNES Donkey Kong Country games to PC. For our SNES fans, we also have a PC port of Star Fox. And, since we’ve already gotten four SNES games, I’d really love to see a PC version of Jurassic Park with KB&M support and HD textures. Now that would be awesome.

And that’s not all of them. We also have the unofficial PC ports of Mario Party 4Sonic UnleashedGoldenEye 007The Legend of Zelda: Twilight PrincessSilent Hill, and Super Smash Bros 64. Last month, we shared the unofficial PC ports of Gears of War 2 and Syphon Filter. Earlier this month, we shared the PC ports of Diddy Kong Racing and Ace Combat 6. Let’s also not forget the unofficial PC versions of Wave Race 64Blue Dragon, and Pikmin. Finally, you can download the PC ports of Spider-Man: Edge of TimeTekken 3, Mario Kart Wii, and Pokemon Crystal.

Have fun!
