Diablo 1 first-person

Diablo 1 Looks Like Classic Doom With This First-Person Mod

YouTube’s ‘Drelvak’ has shared an amazing video, showcasing what the first Diablo game could look like in first-person mode. And, as you will see, the game looks like a classic Doom game, something that will most likely please a lot of retro fans.

The reason “Diablo 1 in First-Person” looks like a Doom game is quite simple. As with Doom, Diablo 1 used 2D sprites. So, by changing its perspective, you get the exact same look that the first two Doom games had.

Going into more detail, Drelvak used the Devolution X source port to turn the 1997 classic Diablo into a first-person game. The project uses AI tools to help with coding. It also maps the game’s original textures onto 3D shapes. The mod keeps the core gameplay and balance of the original game, but it gives players a new way to explore its dark dungeons.

Sadly, the YouTuber has not released this mod to the public yet. From what I’ve seen in the Comments, he might do so one day. So, when and if he releases it, I’ll be sure to share it with you.

The good news for Diablo 2 fans is that you can play the second game in first-person. A few days ago, we informed you about D2R-3D. This mod lets you play Diablo 2: Resurrected with a much closer camera.

With this mod, you can play in both first-person and third-person views. It still has some bugs, but it offers a fun new way to enjoy this classic Diablo game.

Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!
