Remedy explains why the free camera mode in Alan Wake PC requires a gamepad

A couple of weeks ago, Remedy decided to give PC players something extra with their freshly released patch for Alan Wake and enabled a free camera mode for it. Naturally, a lot of PC gamers tried to enjoy this new feature and were met with an awkward requirement. In order to use this mode, players had to use a gamepad. As you’d expect, some of them went ahead and complained to Remedy about it, and today the company felt the need to explain why this mode requires a gamepad. Alan Wake PC gets a hotfix; Nvidia SLI profile available via Control Panel Update

Remedy has released a hotfix patch for the PC version of Alan Wake. This hotfix fixes some crashes that occurred with Alt-Tab in SLI configurations, the saving of assigned keys so that both Numlock on/off states work and can be defined separately, as well as command line handling so that invalid input does not cause the game to enter unresponsive state. As always, the update will be auto-downloaded next time you start the Steam client and you can view its changelog below. Remedy point their gun at a fan-made upcoming Alan Wake movie

I’m really shocked with Remedy’s stance at an upcoming fan-made movie that will be based on Alan Wake. The team behind it is called ‘DDCN Production 2011’ and posted on Remedy’s forum a supposedly location backstage teaser for their movie. Now let’s get one thing straight here; those fans are really low on budget and they don’t obviously possess the means to make a Hollywood movie. This is understandable and we can also see the reason behind ‘borrowing’ some material from various documentaries. This is a bloody non-profit movie guys. Let us say it again; this is a fan-made, non-profit film. Continue reading Remedy point their gun at a fan-made upcoming Alan Wake movie

Remedy: Finished the SLI fixes for Alan Wake PC, working on 3D Vision

Nvidia users have been waiting patiently for a working SLI profile of Alan Wake PC. It took Remedy a while, but they have finally finished the SLI fixes for the game. Although the company had previously stated that they would release the fixes the moment they were completed, Remedy’s co-founder Sami Vanhatalo said that they have to wait first for the next driver update of Nvidia (that will include an SLI profile for the game). After that, Remedy will release the fixes via a Steam update. Continue reading Remedy: Finished the SLI fixes for Alan Wake PC, working on 3D Vision

I tell you, modders are crazy. Remember when Remedy announced that they would not release mod tools for the PC version of Alan Wake? A lot of gamers were disappointed with that statement, however modder ‘evin’ decided to go ahead and figure out a way to unlock the game’s data files.
