Mario Kart World feature-2

Nintendo Switch 2 Emulator Eglantine Runs Mario Kart World at 60 FPS on PC

A few days ago, we informed you about Eglantine, the first Nintendo Switch 2 emulator for PC. Back then, it could run Mario Kart World, but the game had poor performance and many visual glitches. Now, just a few days later, things have changed. Eglantine can run Mario Kart World at 60 FPS on PC.

YouTube’s ‘Unreal Gaming PC’ has shared a video that showcases 12 minutes of gameplay footage from it. To capture this footage, the YouTuber used an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 and 64GB of RAM.

As we can see, Mario Kart World runs at 60 FPS on that PC system. There are a few stutters here and there, but other than those, we get 60 FPS across numerous stages.

This is such an impressive result. A few days ago, there wasn’t any Nintendo Switch 2 emulator. Now, not only do we have one, but it also runs a triple-A game like Mario Kart World at 60 FPS.

I’ve seen some people call Eglantine an “AI slop emulator” that is just based on Eden. But you know what? I don’t care. What matters is the result. Before Eglantine, there was no Nintendo Switch 2 emulator for PC. So, instead of complaining, why didn’t those people make one? I’ll give you a hint: because it was too hard.

My guess is that we will also see some unofficial PC ports of the Nintendo Switch 2 games soon. A lot of the PC recomps are based on the workd that was done in emulators. Take, for instance, the unofficial PC ports of almost all PS4 games. These were made possible thanks to shadPS4. So, in a few months, we might see unofficial PC versions of Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

You can go ahead and download Eglantine from this link. This is the version that the YouTuber used to capture the following gameplay video (it is build-135 6221409).

Stay tuned for more!
