It’s that time of year again. 2013 is almost upon us and promises to be a great year. Well, that is if the Mayan prediction was not accurate enough and the world doesn’t end tomorrow (though we all know that we’ll be just fine and nothing ‘bad’ will happen). So, our dear readers, we’re presenting you our Top10 most optimized PC games of 2012. Before starting, let us tell you that our Top10 is based on those games’ performance under DX9 and DX10. DX11 did not take off in 2012, and that’s why we did not focus on it. However, our GTX690 will serve us well in 2013, so rest assured that our upcoming Performance Analyses will also cover this API. Far Cry 3 – Patch 1.04 Released, Improves Overall Stability & Features Lots Of Fixes

Seems that Ubisoft is really supporting the PC version of Far Cry 3. Yes, the team has not addressed the DX11 performance as of yet, however it has already rolled out 4 patches for the PC version that fix a lot of gameplay issues. Among other things, this latest patch improves stability, fixes one hell of bugs/issues, fixes several crashes, adds some tweaks for the Map Editor, and introduces new options the hide the HUD. Far Cry 3 – PC Update 1.03 released; includes fix for machines with more than 32 cores

Ubisoft has released a new update for the PC version of Far Cry 3. According to the changelog, this patch fixes issues for machines that have more than 32 cores and brings improvements to playlists and rotation for User Made maps. Ubisoft explains why vehicles were not included in Far Cry 3 MP & the differences between Far Cry 2

In a Reddit IAMA discussion, Ubisoft’s developers have unveiled some interesting – background – information about Far Cry 3. According to the devs, Far Cry 3 MP does not feature any vehicles because the team wanted to focus on the ”shoulder to shoulder” fighting experience. Lost Map recreated in Far Cry 3, Lion King recreated in Minecraft

CraftedMovie has uploaded an interesting Minecraft machinima, in which we get to see what a Lion King game or film would look like with Minecraft’s assets, characters and graphics. It looks pretty amazing and took the team a lot of time to achieve that. On the other hand, Far Cry 3 mapper ‘Krazee DD’ has released a mini Lost map for Ubisoft’s sandbox title. Far Cry 3 Is The Most Optimized PC Game Of 2012 – PC Performance Analysis

Now this is how you develop a PC version of a multi-platform title. Far Cry 3 PC is the definition of what developers can achieve when they’re taking advantage of the PC. Not only does the game look fabulous, it also scales incredibly on four CPU cores, and showcases the huge difference between a game that is optimized for dual-cores and one that is optimized for quad-cores. It’s ironic – given the fact that this is a Ubisoft title – but Far Cry 3 is the most optimized PC game of 2012 and you can read below the reasons why we consider it this good. Far Cry 3 in Real Life – First Person Live-Action Short

Cameron Manwaring has informed us about a new live-action short film for Far Cry 3, that was made by Devin Graham, Leanna Pareja, Jacob Schwarz, and Clint Jones. It’s a great video, though the first-person perspective cannot come close to the one made by FreddieW.
