Star Wars Comes To CryEngine 3, StarCraft 2 Zerg Environment Recreated In UDK

CryEngine 3 v2
As you may have noticed, we didn’t post any CryEngine 3 or UDK articles this weekend. Therefore, today we bring you some interesting concepts from 3D artists ‘Camrat’ and ‘Harbinger’. Camrat decided to create a map based on Star Wars’ universe in CryEngine 3, while Harbinger created a Zerg hive environment in UDK (obviously inspired by StarCraft 2). Both of these maps look great, though we have to admit that the Star Wars scene is a little bit better. Enjoy! CryEngine 3 Zombie Survival Mod “Survived” Demoed

CryEngine 3 v2
Crusnik Crysis has informed us about a new CryEngine 3 project called ‘Survived’. Survived is a survival game that was created via the free CryEngine 3 SDK and can be downloaded from here (do note that CryDev is currently down). Survived looks pretty sweet, though it’s not excellent and has its share of bugs. Still, this is the work of an individual modder and it features what most gamers would expect from a survival game. Moreover, ‘Survived’ features an amazing atmosphere and its whole structure reminded us of Amnesia. This project builds tension through its atmospheric environments and does not rely on simply throwing zombies at you. To put it simple; Survived is all about the journey of encountering zombies and not about killing dozens of them. Enjoy! Continue reading CryEngine 3 Zombie Survival Mod “Survived” Demoed

This is what Uncharted 3 – and racing games – could look like in CryEngine 3

CryEngine 3 v2
Ah, the power of CryEngine 3. You know though, it’s really funny. This bloody engine can push some of the most spectacular visuals we’ve seen, yet developers are not taking advantage of it. Guess Crytek is overcharging CE3’s license, otherwise we can’t find any reason at all for not using it. But anyway, modder ‘PianoPolish’ was utterly impressed by Naughty Dogs’ Uncharted and decided to create a map that was inspired by the game’s ‘Desert’ level. On the other hand, modder ‘wjmoosting’ has shared some gorgeous shots from what could easily be a racing game. Furthermore, we’ve included some shots from modders codecode and ReVan1199, as well as a video from YouTube’s member ‘MegaVIDEONATOR’. Enjoy! FOX Engine vs CryEngine 3 – Konami’s Office Room Recreated In CryEngine 3

CryEngine 3 v2
Back in May, Konami showcased the power of its FOX Engine by recreating one of its office rooms in it. That room made a lot of heads turn, and it’s time now to see whether CryEngine 3 is capable of producing such visuals. Modder ‘gametime’ has managed to recreate that Konami office room, proving that Crytek’s proprietary engine can compete with Konami’s next-gen engine. As gametime revealed, all of that assets that have been used have a proxy model and the level is in real scale. Many assets have POM to further enhance their realism. Oh, and contrary to Konami’s recreation… this CryEngine 3 office is being shown off at a HD resolution. In addition, we’ve included some shots from modders Kristusea, Maximum-Dev and TranceBaker. Enjoy! Continue reading FOX Engine vs CryEngine 3 – Konami’s Office Room Recreated In CryEngine 3

Gameloft Montreal Employee Testing CryEngine 3, Next-Gen Nuclear Lighthouse By Vladimir Somov

CryEngine 3 v2
CryEngine 3 fans, today we bring you new shots and videos from modders darkchazz, Guedin, Trillville, ultranew_b, USSR_GRAND, Vladimir Somov and verroeng. The highlights of this week are Vladimir’s amazing nuclear lighthouse and Guedin’s recreation of Colonel Jack O’Neill. Guedin is working for Gameloft Montreal and decided to experiment with Crytek’s engine. The result is a highly detailed military character. Vladimir Somov, on the other hand, created a map with contrasting colder interior and warmer exterior space with good variety of surfaces, lighting and atmosphere. It looks beautiful, so make sure to check it out. We’ve also included a WIP video from Project Crynosaurs and a showcase video for last week’s Darksiders II character (that was created by The_Distiller). Enjoy! CryEngine 3 coming to Linux, Crytek looking for a Linux programmer to work on it

Crytek_logo
As we’ve already said, CryEngine 3 has a lot of potential. As various modders have proved, this engine is capable of displaying amazing visuals and it seems that Crytek wants to cover all possible platforms for its latest version. We know that CryEngine 3 is next-gen compatible, and that it will also support Nintendo’s WiiU. However, the engine has never been available to Linux, something that is going to change in the near future. Darksiders II’s character recreated in CE3, next-gen visuals showcased for various type of games

CryEngine 3 v2
Ever wondered what Darksiders 2 would look like in CryEngine 3? Well, time to get a taste of it. Modder The_Distiller recreated Darksiders 2’s character, Crowfather, in CryEngine 3 and we have to admit that the end result is quite stunning. Keep also in mind that this was done by one – yet talented – modder, so imagine what a triple-A studio can achieve with Crytek’s engine. For comparison purposes, we’ve also included the a shot of Crowfather from Darksiders 2 (the one on the left). In addition, we present you some new images from the works of modders trazec, ReVan1199, Davlin, codecode and qpffhtmxj, showcasing what we can at least expect from the first batch of next-gen titles. Enjoy! Continue reading Darksiders II’s character recreated in CE3, next-gen visuals showcased for various type of games
