Another day, another Mantle article. A couple of days ago, French website Hardware interviewed AMD’s Raja Koduri who shared some interesting information about the red team’s upcoming API. According to Raja, Microsoft was well aware of the existence of Mantle. You’ve got to love PR marketing. Earlier last week, AMD revealed Mantle. As the red team hinted during its AMD event, Mantle would be compatible with AMD’s GPUs. Despite some websites claiming that this API will be open to other graphics manufacturers, it was recently revealed that Mantle will require cards based on AMD’s GCN architecture to work. AMD and DICE reveal Mantle, low-level graphics API for Radeon cards, offering 9X better performance

DICE’s Johan Andersson revealed today that AMD and DICE are working on a low-level high-performance graphics API for Radeon cards, called Mantle. According to AMD, Mantle offers up to 9X more draw calls per second than other APIs by reducing CPU overhead. This is crucial as according to Johan, this API will be able to finally offer PC gamers proper multi-tasking scaling on the CPU without the need to handle all the background draw calls that the original, old model, requires. AMD has officially announced its latest graphics cards. As AMD revealed, there will be two series; one for the high-end enthusiasts and one for the casual crowd. These two series are Radeon R7 and Radeon R9. As the red team revealed, some energy efficiency tweaks have been made to these new upcoming cards and the R9 series will support DX11.2. AMD Catalyst 13.9 Official WHQL Released

AMD has released a new set of WHQL drivers for its graphics cards. The red team has not released any changelog at the time of writing, but we’ll be sure to update the story the moment it does. According to Guru3D’s member ‘Seren’, this new driver is around a week older than 13.10 beta, and they are on the 150 branch. In short, some frame pacing improvements that are available on the latest beta driver may be missing from this WHQL driver. But then again, a lot of users prefer the WHQL drivers over the Beta ones. AMD has released a new set of beta drivers for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the AMD Catalyst 13.10 Beta come with CrossFire performance improvements in Total War: Rome 2, Saints Row 4 and Metro: Last Light. In addition, AMD has included a number of frame pacing improvements for Tomb Raider, Metro Last Light, Sniper Elite, World of Warcraft, Max Payne 3 and Hitman Absolution. AMD Catalyst 13.8 Beta Now Available – Includes Frame Pacing Option, Fixes Stuttering

AMD has finally released the highly anticipated drivers for its graphics cards. Catalyst 13.8 Beta mainly fix the latency issues that have plagued the entire HD 7000 series. This means that the stuttering issues that have been reported in the past few months should be fixed. AMD users can enable/disable the frame pacing fix from their control panels. By default, this option is set On. AMD noted that this option may bring a slight performance drop, so those interested in benchmarking these new drivers should disable it. AMD Announced New Titles For Its ‘Gaming Evolved’ Program

AMD announced today some new titles that will be part of its ‘Gaming Evolved’ program. Among those titles we can find Thief, CryEngine 3-powered Shadow of the Eternals and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. AMD’s Gaming Evolved program is similar to Nvidia’s The Way It’s Meant To Be Played program, and will be interesting to see whether the following titles will include any ‘special’ DX11 features. AMD’s Latest Commercial Goes Up Against Nvidia, Claims To Be THE Best PC Graphics Solution

Okay, AMD has balls. I mean big, big red balls. The red team has released a new commercial in which it goes up against Nvidia. This commercial shows a PC gamer who bought a new graphics card and is facing some technical issues with his favourite games. And then, out of nowhere, a guy appears to help him out with his problems. Naturally, instead of lowering some settings, tweaking his PC or overclocking his GPU, that guy suggests him to get a new AMD card, as those cards are said to ‘be the best for PC gaming these days.’ Naturally, that’s not the only thing that happens in this commercial, so make sure to watch it.
