Ashes of the Singularity – New update improves unit movement & physics, adds new maps

Oxide Games has released a new patch for Ashes of the Singularity. According to the changelog, this update adds five new maps, adds map ping to the game, and improves unit movement and physics, as well as unit responsiveness. Ashes of the Singularity – Update 1.2 adds newly enhanced Campaign, new units, global chat and more

Stardock and Oxide Games have released update 1.2 for Ashes of the Singularity. The update is adding the newly enhanced campaign which is complete with full voiceover for all dialogue, new missions, and new cutscenes. In addition to the campaign, v1.2 has the new “Substrate Eradicator” and “PHC Athena” units, single-player Hall of Fame, Global Chat channel, substantial UI and AI improvements, and more. NVIDIA Will Fully Implement Async Compute Via Driver Support, Oxide Confirms

Well, here is some good news for NVIDIA users. It appears that NVIDIA will fully implement Async Compute via an upcoming driver. As Oxide’s developer “Kollock” wrote on Overclock.net, NVIDIA has not fully implemented yet Async Compute in its driver, and Oxide is working closely with them in order to achieve that. Oxide Developer: “NVIDIA Was Putting Pressure On Us To Disable Certain Settings In The Benchmark”

When Oxide’s Ashes of the Singularity benchmark tool was released, NVIDIA issued a statement claiming that it does not consider this particular benchmark to represent what DX12 can achieve on its hardware. However, it seems that a lot has been going on in the background. According to one of Oxide’s developer, NVIDIA was pressuring Oxide to remove certain settings in its benchmark. NVIDIA: “We believe there will be better examples of true DX12 performance” than Ashes of the Singularity, Oxide Responds

The first pre-beta build of Ashes of the Singularity releases in a couple of days, and will be the first “proper” DX12 benchmark available (alongside 3D Mark’s DX12 Test). According to various reports, however, Oxide’s strategy game is under-performing on NVIDIA’s GPUs, something that prompted the green team to issue a statement about it. Oxide Games, AMD, and NVIDIA will Present at GDC 2014 the Nitrous Engine and the Future of Real-time Graphics

Oxide Games has announced that it will be partnering with AMD and NVIDIA to examine the future of video games. During GDC 2014, Oxide Games will offer two presentations. The first talk will explain how to get the best use out of AMD’s Mantle API, with explanations of how the Nitrous engine achieves its goals while the second discussion with NVIDIA will explain how modern multi-core CPUs and GPUs open up new ways of designing games for the latest generation of consoles and PCs. Oxide’s Star Swarm Mantle Benchmark Is Now Available On Steam

As we told you a couple of hours ago, the Star Swarm Mantle benchmark of Oxide Games was meant to hit the Internet this month. So, here it is. Star Swarm is now available and can be downloaded via Steam. AMD has not released yet the 14.1 drivers that bring support for this new API, so now is the perfect time to download the benchmark and get yourselves ready for them.
