Indie game ‘Reflect’ showcases the future of PC gaming graphics; ray tracing in real-time

Reflect is a Portal-clone that is created by students of the IGAD program, a game development course of the NHTV University of Applied Sciences in Breda, The Netherlands. And it’s funny because this indie game, showcases the future of PC graphics. We have known for some time that ray tracing and global illumination would be the two ground-breaking ‘features’ in future graphics and we are excited to finally see ray-tracing in real-time. The game uses an in-house engine called, Brigade Engine, and comes with a path tracer for rendering. Make no mistake though, Reflect is quite demanding but damn does it look sexy. Ray-tracing is as ground-breaking as iD Software’s real-time dynamic lighting that was showcased in Doom 3. Yeah, we are talking about great stuff here guys, though some of you might not like the noise that is introduced in Reflect! Weekly GTA IV Gallery [January 22nd – 28th]

Even though that there have been a lot of new, custom-made cars from GTA IV’s community members this week, we decided to skip them. Yeah, the attention to detail is great and they can surpass those GT5 and FM4 cars, but we’ve already seen plenty of them, right? Therefore, today we bring you some environmental screenshots from modders Jaizeta, King of K, PacketOVerload_x64Bit, Raigen, Dpeasant3, DenDi333, and Rone. These modders have used custom ENBSeries and as you can see, the end result is pretty amazing. Enjoy! Continue reading Weekly GTA IV Gallery [January 22nd – 28th]

Okay, now that was unexpected. Mapper Chrome235 has revealed a screenshot that showcases how Mordor and LOTR would look like in CryEngine 3. This is basically an artwork – or a wallpaper – that borrows some assets from the movies. In other words, this is not a custom map. Still, it’s pretty amazing and makes us wish for a LOTR game, powered by Crytek’s engine. Alongside this shot, we bring you some new images from modders/mappers Tiesto, TheMagnumman357, chicken, rGOt, and ReVan1199. Enjoy! Risen 2 is primarily developed for the PCs; design decisions limited by the console versions

Risen was an amazing RPG and a true, spiritual successor to the Gothic series. Piranha Bytes proved that they can offer us an amazing and bug-less gaming experience, provided they’re given the time to polish their games, and we are pretty sure that a lot of PC gamers are looking forward to its sequel. However, you might not be pleased with what you’re about to hear, especially if you are a ‘console-hater’.
