CryEngine modders and indie developers have posted some new screenshots from their upcoming projects and holy batman do they love lens flares. We strongly suggest putting your sunglasses on before viewing them because some modders went overdrive with those new lens flares effects that were introduced in the latest build of the free CryENGINE SDK. The highlights of this week are Revan1199’s and USSR_GRAND’s maps. These two modders have created two amazing maps that do not rely on those annoying lens flares, so kudos to them. Enjoy! Our reader ‘Jonathan Gustafsson’ has informed us about a new, hilarious, mod for GTA IV that introduces a giant duck, a zebra, an ostrich and a tiger to Rockstar’s title. During this year’s PAX Prime, Nvidia showcased its Fur Tech that will be used in The Witcher 3. A team of Final Fantasy fans got together and created an amazing live action trailer for an unofficial, fan-made, movie based on Final Fantasy VI. And even though the trailer looks great, we are pretty sure that Square Enix will send Bad Pixel a C&D letter. Which is precisely why the team has not started working on the full movie. Bad Pixel wants to acquire permission from Square-Enix to run a Kickstarter Campaign, however that will most probably won’t happen anytime soon. Let’s not forget that another FF movie – based on FFVII – had a Kickstarter and Square Enix took it down. Here is hoping that the Japanese studio will give the green light to Bad Pixel, though things are not looking ideal. Still, the trailer looks good so go ahead and take a look! During this year’s SIGGRAPH 2013, Jonathan Dupuy, Eric Heitz, Jean-Claude Iehl, Poulin Pierre, Fabrice Neyret and Victor Ostromoukhov presented a new graphical technique that could be used in next-gen (or next-next-gen) games.
