A lot has already been said about the downgraded visuals of Watch_Dogs. Watch_Dogs was meant to be a graphical showcase but the end result we got was a bit underwhelming. And since Watch_Dogs 2 is right around the corner, Ubisoft decided to shed some light on what went wrong with the first Watch_Dogs. Here are all of Ubisoft’s downgraded games (E3 versus final game video comparison)

YouTube’s ‘CrowbCat’ has shared a video featuring all of Ubisoft’s downgraded games. This video shows the differences between the E3 and the final versions of Watch_Dogs, The Division, Rainbow Six, Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 3. Unfortunately, CrowbCat did not include Ghost Recon Wildlands (a game for which its latest trailer features less impressive visuals than its reveal trailer). Enjoy! Watch_Dogs – Modders Partially Enable Parallax Occlusion Mapping, Still A WIP Project

Our reader ‘Dirty Dan’ has shared with us an image, showing parallax occlusion mapping being used in Watch_Dogs. In case you didn’t know, POM was used in a number of screenshots prior to the game’s release, but was disabled in the final version. Dirty Dan was able to partially re-enable it, though as he told us this is still a premature attempt. It will be interesting to see whether this effect will be properly re-enabled but until then, enjoy the following image showing this feature in full effect. Top 5 Worst Optimized PC Games Of 2014

2014 was a pretty interesting year. Watch_Dogs was finally coming out, Assassin’s Creed: Unity was planned for current-gen platforms only, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter had everyone hyped with its special techniques, a new Wolfenstein was scheduled to come out, and Dragon Age: Inquisition was aiming to put DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine into good use. And while we’ve seen a number of games hitting both old-gen and current-gen platforms, there were a few that released exclusively on current-gen platforms. Watch_Dogs – New PC Update Released, Improves Performance On Recent Graphics Cards

Well here is a nice surprise. Ubisoft has just released a new update for the PC version of Watch_Dogs. According to the changelog, this patch improves performance on more recent models of cards (and as the French company noted, 770 and onwards GPUs will see better improvements).
