When it was originally released, The Witcher 2 was criticized for its combat mechanics, as it felt a bit ‘awkward’ and Geralt could not react as fast as gamers had expected him to. Therefore, CD Projekt RED had to release a patch that addressed most of the game’s combat issues. But why was the combat of The Witcher 2 so unforgiving? The Witcher Series Has Sold Over Six Million Copies

CD Projekt RED revealed today that the ‘The Witcher’ series has sold six million copies combined. In addition, Geralt is celebrating today his sixth birthday. Lots of six-es for CDPR, don’t you agree? Either way, in order to celebrate it, the company has shared a new poster, and an infographic to show how The Witcher series evolved during the years. Polish gaming website Legal/Law Journal site (thanks Kodaemon and Perscitus for the heads up), Gazeta Prawna, has revealed some interesting information about the development cost of The Witcher 2, as well as the development for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. During CDPR’s conference, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski said that The Witcher 2 cost $10,36 million to CD Projekt RED.

During their SIGGRAPH 2013 talk, CD Projekt RED’s Balazs Torok and Krzysztof Krzyscin unveiled some new interesting information about RED Engine; the engine powering The Witcher 2 and CDPR’s upcoming RPG, The Witcher 3. According to the developers, this engine was originally meant to be used in The Witcher 3 as the game was planned ahead already, however CDPR decided to take advantage of it with The Witcher 2. And the time has finally come. CD Projekt RED’s Andrzej ‘Flash’ Kwiatkowski has released a new version of his Full Combat Rebalance 2 Mod for The Witcher 2. This new version allows Geralt to parry attacks from behind while he’s standing still. NeoGAF’s member ‘EatChildren’ has released a pretty interesting – yet demanding – mod for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. According to its creator, this mod dramatically increases grass rendering distance, renders distant tree moss, presents full detail bushes/shrubs over entire fields, maximizes the quality of trees at any distance, and completely eliminates grass pop-in. CD Projekt RED’s Andrzej Kwiatkowski is currently working on an update for his full combat rebalance mod for The Witcher 2. According to the modder and developer of The Witcher 3, this new update will allow Geralt to parry attacks from behind while he’s standing still. In addition, the update will address a lot of the bugs/issues that plagued the original version of his mod. Kwiatkowski plans to release this update for his mod sometime this week, and you can view its changelog below. The Witcher 2’s Full Combat Rebalance 2 Mod Comes Out June 20th, Massive Changelog Revealed

Two days ago, we informed you about a combat rebalance mod that was being developed by CD Projekt RED’s gameplay designer, Andrzej Kwiatkowski, and today we are happy to report that this mod is planned for a June 20th release. Kwiatkowski himself revealed the release date on CD Projekt RED’s forum, and stated that the mod will be 2GB in size.
