MaLDo’s HD Texture Pack version 2.0 for Crysis 2

As we’ve informed you last month, MaLDo released some spectacular textures for Crysis 2. However, that texture pack was compatible only with the 1.1 version of the game and since Crytek has finally released the latest patch which basically unlocks the modding functionality of the game, MaLDo decided to update his pack and make it compatible with Crysis 2’s 1.9 version. If you thought that a high-end PC couldn’t provide far superior graphics than those of X360 or PS3… think again. We should note that the ghosting at the top-left of the screens is due to a bug with Crysis 2’s ‘e_Screenshot’ function. Enjoy the following screenshots! Crysis 2 – The Way It Was Meant To Be… Partially

Let’s get one thing straight from the beginning. I was among those that criticized Crytek’s decision to release a dumbed down version of Crysis 2 to the PC. As I wrote in my ‘How Crytek doomed Crysis 2’s PC version’ article for another publication, Crytek had failed to release a proper PC version of Crysis 2 and didn’t include any DX11 support, modding tools, advanced graphics options or an 64bit executable file. Fast forward some months and here we are today with most of those issues addressed/fixed. Continue reading Crysis 2 – The Way It Was Meant To Be… Partially

Crysis 2 – High Resolution Textures Comparison

Crytek released yesterday the DX11 Pack and a High-Resolution Textures Pack for Crysis 2. These two packages will be enabled with the upcoming 1.9 Patch, but someone has already managed to enable those high-resolution textures. It seems that Crytek didn’t replace each and every texture of the game with a high-resolution version. Instead, the company concetrated on those that were really blury (low-res) and upped their resolution in an attempt to offer a crisper image.
