CryEngine 3 is a really amazing engine and as we’ve said and before, we are shocked that most studios are not taking advantage of it. This engine is one of the most optimized engines available to the market and since the SDK has been released, modders have been ‘playing’ with it. Crysis 2 SP Continuum Mod Beta Released; Behold the power of CryEngine 3

Remember those mind-blowing carage shots of a Crysis 2 mod that were featured in one of our Weekly CryEngine 3 Galleries? No? Shame on you. Modder Tiesto is developing one of the best SP total conversions of Crysis 2 and has released its beta version. To put it simple; this is the best total conversion of Crysis 2. Hell, it even puts Crysis 2 itself to shame. According to the modder, this is only a beta, thus it does not contain many missions. Crysis PhotorealIV EGM gives us a taste of how Crysis would look like if it was released today

If there is one mod that can make Crysis unique and refreshing, then that’s definitely CyberAlien’s Extreme Quality Mod. CyberAlien’s mod is a piece of art and modder ‘x0TuRn0x’ decided to go the extra mile and to fix some bugs of it, as well as to include it in a map. Thus, Crysis PhotorealIV EGM has come to life. This little mod/map comes with better motion blur and DoF, as well as some gameplay improvements. And damn, those sand textures look lovely! A few days ago, modder themodman101 released his Alpine Assets Pack for CryEngine 3 and today, we bring you another look at how Alan Wake would look like in CryEngine 3. CryZone: Sector 23 Beta Is Out Now; Crysis Total Conversion, based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Team WoS Team, the team behind CryZone: Sector 23, a Crysis total conversion that is based on GSC’s STALKER, series has released its beta version which allows players to get acquainted with the post-apocalyptic world of «Cry» Zone. Players will find a few quests, and one, but huge in size, location, steeped with dense forest and wrapped innumerable villages, research facilities and military testing sites. As with STALKER, one of the key elements for this Mod is its A-life system (non-final version), which is basically scripts that will have an unpredictable and interesting impact in CryZone: Sector 23’s gameplay. New Return to Jurassic Park Screenshots

Return to Jurassic Park is a Crysis mod for Jurassic Park with a fictional story setting on Isla Nublar 18 years after the first film. The team is hard at work and there is a chance that we might see this mod released in 2012. Weekly CryEngine 3 Gallery [December 25th – 31st]; this is how Fifa 13 would look like in CryEngine 3

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; you can’t comprehend the flexibility of Crytek’s latest game engine, CryEngine 3. Modders around the world are experimenting with it – thanks to the free SDK that was released by Crytek – and one of them is Gkan who is creating a soccer game. Now there are a lot of complex issues (regarding its collision system) but from what we’ve seen so far, this is how the next-generation version of Fifa would actually look like. It’s really impressive and get this; it’s from one man and not from a whole team, dedicated to it. Simply, amazing. The Ultimate Soldier is an upcoming, promising CryEngine 3 Machinima Movie

Modder ‘Yeardley Diamond’ is currently creating a CryEngine 3 machinima movie. This film will be an alternate story of Crysis and Crysis 2 and the story will start from the ending of Crysis Warhead. The target release of this movie is around 1st quarter of 2012 or early 2nd quarter and ‘Yeardley Diamond’ released a new video that showcases a re-designed nanosuit that will be used. The evolution of Crysis’s lighting; new lighting and shaders boost the game’s visuals to new levels

There is no denying that Crysis’ vanilla lighting looks a bit dated nowadays. And although you can tweak the SSAO and bring to the table some amazing results, Crytek’s member ‘Wulfen’ uploaded a video that shows off his new lighting system and the amazing combination of it with Cry-Styves’ Shaders. This combo seems quite demanding – if we can judge by the footage that is choppy, though we don’t know the user’s test system – but it surely looks sexy. This lighting/shader combo boosts Crysis visuals to a whole new level, so be sure to check this out!
