Free Dino Crisis 2 Fan Remake Demo in Unreal Engine 5 Released

Last week, Stefano Cagnani released a demo for his fan remake of Dino Crisis 2 in Unreal Engine 5. Now, the reason I did not share this project back then was because it was put behind a pay wall. Thankfully, though, Cagnani has decided to make the demo free to everyone.

Since this is created by a single person, you should temper your expectations. This is NOT what an official remake of Dino Crisis 2 will look like. Still, it can give you a vague idea of what a remake of it could be.

The original Dino Crisis 2 used fixed camera angles. On the other hand, the fan remake took a page from Capcom’s remakes of the Resident Evil games. As such, it uses a third-person camera viewpoint. In the demo, players can explore some of the game’s environments. They can also collect cards, solve puzzles and fight some dinosaurs.

As you will see, the demo is rough around the edges. Animations are not that smooth, and Regina’s 3D model feels weird. Still, you have to keep in mind that this is done by one person. Yes, it’s rough. However, it’s also a free demo that some DC2 fans may find interesting.

In total, this demo appears to be offering around an hour of gameplay. At the end of the article, you can find a trailer for it. There is also a full walkthrough video for it (though I can’t embed it in the article). And, if you want to try it yourselves, you can download it from this link.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine.

And that’s not all. There is a cool remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 that you can download. Or how about this free Attack on Titan game? Then we have the fan remakes for Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, Oblivion, and MediEvil 2. Plus, there is an amazing fan remake of Sonic Adventure 2, called Sonic Adventure 2 Redux.

Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these two tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town. Last month, we also shared a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, a demo for Need for Speed: Underground 2, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
