Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5 new feature

Oblivion Unreal Engine 5 Fan Remake Now Has Horses & NPCs

Greg Coulthard has released a new version of his fan remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5. This new version has horses that players can ride, as well as NPCs/characters that populate the world.

For those unaware, this project brings the entire map of Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5. It’s a pretty cool project that may give us a glimpse at what the official remake/remaster of Oblivion will look like.

As you will see, the animations for horse riding are a bit rough. Same goes for the animations of most NPCs. Still, these new features make the world feel more alive than before. Nevertheless, for a one-man project, this fan remake is quite impressive.

The good news here is that you can download this fan remake and experience it on your PC. All you have to do is head over to Coulthard’s Discord server. Once you join the server, you will find a section dedicated to this Oblivion UE5 Fan Remake, from which you can download it.

Oblivion fans will be eating well this year. Alongside this fan remake, Skyblivion will come out later this year. Skyblivion brings Oblivion to Skyrim’s engine. And then we have the official UE5 remake, developed by Virtuous. So, in 2025, you get to play three different remakes of Oblivion. Pretty cool in my opinion.

Speaking of Oblivion, its official remake in UE5 will be released this week. According to some reports, we might get it on April 21st. This has not been confirmed yet. However, it is obvious that MS is almost ready to shadowdrop it.

Right now, the Oblivion Remake has a category on TwitchTV. Not only that, but the game also appeared on Steam’s database. Plus, Google and other search engines have already listed the official website for it.

In short, the remake is real. And yes, it will come out this week. However, take everything above with a grain of salt. All signs hint at an April 21st release. However, it may come out later this week. So, don’t get disappointed if it doesn’t get released today.

I personally can’t wait to get my hands on it. From what we’ve seen, this is a fully-fledged remake in Unreal Engine 5. Similarly to Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, it will use UE5 as its renderer frontend. Underneath, it will use the original engine for physics and scripts. So, it will most likely feel like Oblivion.

Stay tuned for more!
