Even though we’re currently preparing our weekly CryEngine 3 gallery, we felt the need to dedicate a whole post to this promising project. Modder ‘john1990’ wanted to see what Shenmue 3 would look like with today’s engines and decided to recreate Ryo Hazuki’s room in CryEngine 3. According to the modder, all models were created with blender and exported with cryblend, while textures created with GIMP 2.8. We currently don’t know whether the modder will recreate other locations, but here is hoping for something more than just a room. For comparison purposes, we’ve also included Hazuki’s room from the Dreamcast version of Shenmue. Enjoy the screenshots after the jump! As promised, Crytek has released another screenshot from the Hunter mode of Crysis 3. The game is powered by Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE, and promises to advance the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Crytek has revealed a new screenshot from the Hunter mode of Crysis 3. The team has promised to share a new screenshot tomorrow (if the following shot gets 50 retweets) and we bet that they’ll easily achieve that. As always, Crysis 3 looks gorgeous and as we’ve already said, Crytek seems to have learned from its mistakes. Codemasters has released a new set of screenshots from its cockpit-less racing game, GRID 2. GRID 2 promises to challenge players to be fast, be first and be famous as they enter a stunning new world of competitive motorsport. GRID 2 is currently planned for a 2013 release and promises to also set new standards for a racing multiplayer experience with an entirely distinct and extensive gameplay component and unique progression system. Harebrained Schemes has released the first screenshots of Shadowrun Returns. Shadowrun Returns is a story-based tactical role-playing game for desktop computers and tablets that was excessively (and wonderfully) funded by fans on Kickstarter. The team’s goal is to create a game that reflects the original tabletop RPG’s narrative and tactical detail, and acts as the spiritual successor to the groundbreaking Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Shadowrun games from way back in the 90’s. Shadowrun Returns features turn-based tactical action. During action sequences like data heists or infiltration missions, you control a team of shadowrunners, pitting them against antagonists ranging from powerful individuals to a small army. Enjoy! Hammerpoint Interactive has released two new, gorgeous screenshots that showcase the first ‘Colorado’ map of The War Z. According to the team, all area except for snow peak mountains on the edge of the map are playable, meaning that you’ll be getting around 160-170km of playable terrain. This basically means that this map size is pretty comfortable for up to 130+ players. Talented modder MaLDo has released a new set of comparison screenshots between Crysis 2’s Official HD textures and the ones from his upcoming HD Texture Pack. As you can see below, MaLDo’s textures blow Crytek’s HD ones out of the water and provide a much richer, and crisper look to Crysis 2. Crytek seems to have learned its lesson as Crysis 3 features textures of higher quality (than those of Crysis 2), but we can’t wait to see whether there is any room for improvements in that upcoming game and what will it look like with MaLDo’s touch. MaLDo has also expressed his disappointment over various PC gamers and their aggresive comments on his blog, so be sure to read what he had to say. Truth be told, MaLDo is right and PC gamers/fanboys should be patient and grateful that there are modders, willing to go the extra mile to improve a game’s visuals. SEGA has released two new PAX Prime 2012 screenshots for Gearbox’s upcoming aliens game, Aliens: Colonial Marines. In addition, Randy Pitchford told Kotaku that the game will feature female characters. After the online controversy about this subject – and an online petition – Randy confirmed that the multiplayer mode will feature a whole range of both male and female characters, all of which can be customized.
