Now this is a nice surprise. Croteam has released new patches for Serious Sam 3 and Serious Sam HD: TSE. Not that many of you are still playing those old-school game, however it’s great witnessing a developer supporting its titles even after months (and years) from its initial release. In addition, Nixxes Software has released a new update for the PC version of Tomb Raider. Unfortunately, no; there isn’t any fix for the game’s bugged areas and the team does not yet have a resolution for the players that are experiencing crashes and major graphical corruption on Nvidia’s hardware. Those updates will be auto-downloaded from Steam, and you can view their complete changelogs below. Continue reading Tomb Raider, Serious Sam 3 & Serious Sam HD: TSE Get New Patches→
Earlier this week, we presented you a mind-blowing video from Nvidia, showcasing the destruction that is possible via its rigid bodies simulation. Today, we are happy to present you a GDC 2013 trailer of Hawken, showcasing – almost – the same level of destruction via the same technique. And in all truthfulness, this looks bad-ass. Hell, even if you’re not a fan of Hawken, you’ll be utterly impressed by this new destruction system. In fact, this trailer reminded us of Red Faction’s destruction, bringing back memories of how we felt when we created our first big hole in Volition’s classic title. Enjoy the trailer after the jump! We’ve featured here in DSOG some stunning videos from WMDPortal’s member JonZ, and today we are happy to present you yet another one. Jonz has posted a new community trailer for Slightly Mad Studios’ upcoming racer, Project CARS, showcasing the Pagani cars (Huayra and Zonda R) that will be featured in it. As Jonz noted, this project (aka Project CARS) is on initial stage of development and all seen footage is pre-alpha. Enjoy!
CryEngine 3 fans, today we bring you new shots from the works of modders h1989, the_grim, MrEnergy, Puppy, The Vulture, walid-payne, MasterHonsel, benkeeling, AkiRa, Zepic. The highlight of this week is Hynik’s artistic video. Hynik painted a number of pictures in Photoshop and then brought them into CryEngine 3 where he sat them up and had a camera move around. The end result is simply amazing and can be easily described as a piece of art (though some may find it boring). Enjoy! Continue reading Weekly CryEngine 3 Gallery [March 24th – 30th]→
A couple of days ago, we informed you about the GPU powering Battlefield 4’s gameplay footage. As we revealed back then, DICE took advantage of AMD’s upcoming dual-card, the AMD HD 7990, to showcase its title. We are pretty sure that a lot of you were – somehow – disappointed by this as an upcoming high-end dual card could mean that this title would struggle with older GPUs. However, that’s not the case as DICE has unveiled some new, interesting details about it. Continue reading Battlefield 4’s Footage Was From A Pre-Alpha Build, Was Running At 3K Resolution→

Now this is great. Almost two weeks ago, Nvidia claimed that it was not worth investing on consoles and that was precisely why they did not bother with PS4 and X720. As Tony Tamasi, Senior VP of content and technology at Nvidia, stated back then, Nvidia came to the conclusion that it didn’t want to do the business at the price Sony was willing to pay. And as you’d expect, AMD decided to stand up and face Nvidia, claiming that they were able to offer PS4 the hardware Nvidia couldn’t. Epic Games has showcased the full Elemental tech demo of Unreal Engine 4, running on PS4. A while back, we posted a comparison between an early version of the Elemental’s PS4 version and its PC counterpart. Today, and since Epic Games had more time on their hands, we decided to make another comparison between the latest PS4 and the PC version of the Elemental Tech Demo. Contrary to our previous comparison, this time we won’t comment on what we think looks the best. The PC version is on the left, whereas the PS4 version is on the right. We’ve also included a comparison video, courtesy of YouTube’s member ‘kaltask1’. Enjoy!
