Prey 2 fans, get ready for a treat. Kotaku has reported that Prey 2 is being rebooted by Arkane Austin, the development studio that made Dishonored. What’s interesting though is that some of Arkane’s employees do not want to develop such a title, something that feels natural as the development of Prey 2 was never Arkane’s intentions. A few days ago, Bethesda confirmed that they weren’t behind the Aliennoire Prey 2 website that teased a possible reveal/announcement of this ‘cancelled’ title. The website had a countdown timer and everyone was hoping that Bethesda would unveil its plans for this game, today. Bad news for Prey 2 fans, as there is a high probability that Prey 2 won’t get released on this generation of consoles (and PCs). Back in March, we informed you about Prey 2’s rumored cancellation. According to those rumors, Bethesda had cancelled Prey 2’s development. That was based on the fact that the company had cancelled the Prey 2 event at this year’s GDC, and that they have not shown pretty much anything since the E3 footage. It took Bethesda a while but finally, they made an official statement about Prey 2’s development. According to Beth’s official blog, the game is still under development, however it won’t be released in 2012. The delay is said to be due to the fact that ‘game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards‘.
