Here is a blast from the past. Duke Nukem Forever was meant to be one of the best first-person games ever created. Or at least that was 3D Realms’ intentions. 3D Realms’ Scott Miller on Duke Nukem Forever: “We were too small, we were always playing catch up”

Duke Nukem Forever is a game that could have been so much more. I, among pretty much all Duke Nukem fans, was really blown away by its 2001 Unreal Engine trailer and was really looking forward to it. However, and as we all know, the end product did not live up to the extremely high expectations. That version of Duke Nukem Forever was powered by Unreal Engine and was meant to be a more serious/dark game. And according to Frederik Schreiber, VP at 3DRealms, that version is 90% complete. This Is The Duke Nukem Forever Game We’ve Been Waiting For, Only Slightly Different

Duke Nukem Forever
Remember the amazing 2001 version of Duke Nukem Forever? Oh I bet most of us we’d kill to play that version instead of what Gearbox and 3D Realms offered us. And since this isn’t going to happen anytime soon, Gambini & Mikko Sandt decided to recreate the maps featured in DNF’s 2001 trailer in Duke Nukem 3D. The end result is quite amazing (for a retro title), and you can view a trailer for it below. This mod is planned for an April 15th release, and even though the trailer was uploaded on April 1st, Gambini has added some screenshots to this mod’s ModDB page on April 4th. In other words, it seems legit so go ahead and enjoy the trailer! Continue reading This Is The Duke Nukem Forever Game We’ve Been Waiting For, Only Slightly Different
