Skyrim Modded new feature

Here’s Skyrim with more than 3100 mods and Complete Ray Tracing, running on an NVIDIA RTX 4090 at 4K

YouTube’s ‘Digital Dreams’ shared a video, showcasing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with over 3100 mods and Complete Ray Tracing Reshade. And yes, you read that right. The YouTuber has used more than 3100 mods. So, let’s take a look at it.

As with most of their videos, Digital Dreams did not include any performance overlay. From what I can see, though, the game runs way below 60fps. My guess is that this is also at Native 4K. So, perhaps they should have used a DLSS Mod to improve performance.

Anyway, regarding the graphics on display, this heavily modded version of Skyrim looks amazing. However, it’s not perfect. For instance, there are some reflection issues (that you can easily spot at 2:35). A “halo aura” also surrounds the main protagonist (and the grass). This is most likely to the settings used for the Complete Ray Tracing Reshade Mod.

Now the good news here is that Digital Dreams has shared the list of mods they have used. So, if you want to use all of these 3100+ mods, you can go ahead and download the modlist from this link.

Do note that this is for Skyrim Special Edition 1.5.97. You can still use this list with Anniversary Edition or more current updates of Skyrim. Wabbajack can also automatically downgrade the self-contained install to 1.5.97.

Speaking of Skyrim, here are some other big fan expansions for it. Wyrmstooth is one of them, adding new quests and dungeons to the game. This other mod brings elements from The Witcher games into SkyrimDragon Hall Tavern is a huge 2GB mod that adds quests, new places, an arena, and more. Then there’s  Land of VominhemApotheosis and Legacy of the Dragonborn. Don’t forget to also check out this Castlevania-inspired modShumer and the Priest Kings is another DLC-sized expansion mod with over 200 locations, 180+ quests and 8,500 lines of voiced dialogue. Oh, and here is another one that adds the cool Nemesis system from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor to it. Lastly, we have this mod that adds six new islands to explore.

And that’s not all. Skyrim has other mods that do lots of cool stuff. So, if you don’t want to use the aforementioned modlist, you can try the following ones.

For instance, this Call of Duty Mod adds to the game 12 new fully functional weapons from it. Then we have this mod that adds to the base game over 7000 voiced lines via AI. There is also this mod that brings the voices of Geralt and Ciri from The Witcher 3 to it. Another cool mod is this one that adds destructible objects to the game. You can also download this mod that makes NPCs smarter, enabling dynamic AI and allowing them to seek cover.  Oh, and let’s also not forget this mod that adds unlimited dynamic light sources, as well as this mod that introduces a dynamic sanity system. Not only that but this mod adds a dynamic decapitation system. Finally, these mods add Subsurface Scattering, Dynamic Cubemaps, Water Caustics and Parallax Mapping to the game.

  1. Is there some kind of competition for most mods in Skyrim without borking the game? Why do people do this? Bragging rights?

      1. Bethesda isn't going to give anyone a job for just installing mods, no matter how many you managed to install. Now maybe if you developed 3100 mods they might take notice, but even then they may not care.

  2. Here is another reason to waste 2 days adding mods to Skyrim, troubleshooting compatibly issues, asking random strangers from reddit about best mods. firing up the good old Skyrim with said mods. telling to yourself … yep its totally worth it. then move the camera and notice irregularities and bugs. getting depressed again and jerking off to wash the past 2 days memories. just do yourself a favor and ignore these things and thank me later

    1. yup, i did the same with GTA 5, wasted 2 days. Finally ended up scrapping the game, reinstalling it and enjoyed the vanilla version. These modded games are good only for Youtube views.

      1. bingo – these mods are only made to showcase the talents of the modders. People who dont have other responsibilities and can live off pizza and have 48 hours per day time.
Its not about making the game more fun but to have clicks on youtube.

    2. Fr, every single time I get into older game modding, things break. Last time I spent 4 days trying to get GTA 4 working properly, never worked. It honestly isn't worth it.

      1. No it's not because it is a Wabbajack based modlist. All you have to do is make sure you have a few prerequisites installed, then load the modlist into Wabbajack and let it do it's thing. You may have to download 2 or 3 things manually and then just do about 15 minutes of setup and you are ready to go. Depending on your Internet speed you could probably do it in 2-3 hours most of which will be watching it download and install mods

  3. If you need over 3,000 mods to play a game…. you need to examine your life. I can't imagine wasting so much time on a game like this. Add a few helpful mods, some graphical enhancements and call it a day. I guarantee that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between one with 50 of the best mods, and one with over 3,000

    1. I feel like they get up to 3k because at some point I feel like you just have to do these extremes to justify purchases like a 4090. I feel like there's no way they can even experience or notice that many mods because sometimes i struggle with the 70-120 i normally play those games with.

  5. Vanilla will always beat the modded versions. The Vanilla version looks even better anytime everywhere.

    1. lol this is objectively wrong. There are lots of mods that are lore friendly and can enhance the visuals while still respecting the original artistic vision. Or in certain cases, they can make improvements over questionable decisions by the game's designers. For example, in the original unmodded Skyrim, the "dark" caves weren't really dark at all, so I installed a mod to make them appropriately dark. It also enhanced my gameplay experience since my character was Khajiit, so his ability to see in the dark actually became useful.

It's just that this digital dreams guy went so overboard with his modding that he managed to practically strip Skyrim's identity and replace it with "medieval fantasy RPG no. 547603." I wish he'd stop doing this because he gives modding a bad name.

      1. It gets him views unfortunately; that's why he keeps doing it instead of showing better mods.

  6. Meanwhile, DXVK 2.4 has been released a few hours ago, including support for DX8 games.

    Here's the list of known bug fixes;
just note that more games could have seen improvements as well, so feel free to give it a try:

      1. So providing actually useful info is considered spam by you?

DXVK works on Windows, too, as you already know.

BTW, unlike you, I'm able to live off my "fanboyism".

If you were smart enough, you could, too!

But what else can you expect from someone who claimed that Linux could never be better than Windows for gaming.

Meanwhile, the Steam Deck is crushing all the competition in the PC handheld market.

And Valve is just getting started…

Expect to hear a whole lot more about Linux in the gaming space over the coming years, because SteamOS is here to stay, unlike the prediction from "experts" such as yourself!

Keep having fun with your bloated AI-ridden Windows 11 in 2025. ;-P

        1. "So providing actually useful info is considered spam by you?"

If it has nothing to do with the article, then yes. It seems like you just decided to visit DSOGaming, open one of the latest articles, and leave an announcement in the comments about one of your favorite open source projects. That's spam by most definitions.

"BTW, unlike you, I'm able to live off my "fanboyism".

If you were smart enough, you could, too!"

My issue isn't my intelligence, but we won't go into that right now.

"Meanwhile, the Steam Deck is crushing all the competition in the PC handheld market."

This isn't an article about the Steam Deck, or about gaming handhelds.

"…because SteamOS is here to stay, unlike the prediction from "experts" such as yourself!"

I never said that SteamOS wasn't here to stay. I said Linux still has issues that make it less than ideal for gaming. And I said that as someone who daily drives it. Granted some of those things are not issues on Windows because hardware manufacturers solved those issues in drivers or people wrote some great tools and/or registry edits to solve them, so gaming on Windows isn't necessarily better because of Microsoft (mouse acceleration is a good example of this).

"Keep having fun with your bloated AI-ridden Windows 11 in 2025. ;-P"

I'm actually using Windows 10, not Windows 11, although I've been thinking of installing Windows 11 before Microsoft makes it completely impossible to install using local accounts instead of Microsoft Live accounts. I'm not too worried about Microsoft's BS because I use a tool called ShutUp10++ to disable Microsoft's privacy-invading Windows 10 features, and don't start trying to pretend that there's no data collection or privacy violations in Linux because Canonical has been doing data collection in Ubuntu for something like a decade at this point.

    1. No it's a Wabbajack based mod list that automatically downgrades Skyrim to 1.5.97 without messing up your Anniversary Edition install and doesn't use any of the Anniversary Edition assets by putting everything in a MO2 standalone install

  7. That's a bit insane tbh why do it? I can see for click money or some weird bragging rights thing but still weirdaf. I mean just go play another game many out there instead of trying to faux make your own game by installing this many mods be a lot funner and less cringey. Modding can go too far and many mediocre to bad games, not saying this about skyrim, would die without mods, good riddance.

  8. Well 2100 mods and 1000 patches to make them all work together ……..

Adding a bunch of mods is relatively easy, it's creating all the patches for them that takes weeks
