As said and in the past, we love 2D games. And we are happy to inform you today about an interesting 2D side-scroller RPG called Empire Eden. Empire Eden is being developed by a small trio of dedicated game enthusiasts, a team that has recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for its title. Dean “Rocket” Hall has released a new devblog for the standalone version of DayZ, showcasing 20 minutes of gameplay footage. DayZ Standalone features better visuals than its mod counterpart, though we can see all known ‘issues’ that are present in Bohemia’s ArmA titles – like low-res blurry textures at the distance and flickering objects. Naturally, some of them will be ironed while other won’t be fixed or tweaked (a ‘noisy’ texture would be ideal for the distant textures. After all, that was the technique that a lot of Skyrim modders followed in order to provide a better IQ). Still, DayZ is not popular for its visuals, but for its atmosphere and gameplay mechanics. The latest issue of EDGE has been sent to subscribers and thankfully, some of them have shared the first information about Konami’s upcoming soccer title. The good news is that the game is based on the FOX Engine, however it is considered now as a new engine due to Konami’s tweaks and enhancements. The game will use a new physics engine and collisions will be better than ever. Konami is aiming for photo-realistic graphics, and the game is built on three pillars. Project CARS is a beauty to behold. Although its driving mechanics are not up to what we’d expect from such a game (and its physics are worse than those featured in Assetto Corsa), Slightly Mad Studios’ racer is the best looking racing game we’ve ever seen. However, it’s really funny when a developer – that does not reveal his or her true identity – tries to damage control with an anonymous account on either a gaming website or a gaming board/forum. Electronic Arts has made an announcement yesterday regarding SimCity’s current state, and although the company avoided to discuss whether it will remove its always-online DRM system, the big publisher revealed that all SimCity owners – who have suffered from those infamous server issues – will get a free PC game on March 18th. Starbreeze and 505 Games have released a walkthrough trailer for their upcoming game, Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons. According to its description, in this title players will control both brothers at once as you experience co-op play in single player mode, like never before. Players will solve puzzles, explore the varied locations and fight boss battles, controlling one brother with each thumb stick. The game is planned for a 2013 release on XBLA, PSN and Steam. Enjoy! Man, what a disastrous launch that was. And ironically, things are going from bad to worse as after the launch day issues that SimCity players faced, EA has managed to F’ things up even more. In order to offer better stability, EA removed the Cheetah mode of SimCity and as you may have expected, a lot of PC gamers got angry with that decision. Resident Evil 6 came with some interesting pre-order rewards, and thankfully all of them have been unlocked. This basically means that if you decide to pre-purchase Capcom’s title from Steam, you will receive the game’s Digital Soundtrack and Artbook, a free copy of Resident Evil 5, as well as the Season Pass for RE6 (which gives free access to all 4 of the upcoming multiplayer DLC modes including: – Survivor – Predator – Onslaught – Siege).
