Reddit’s user ‘DarkerForce’ shared some amazing panoramic screenshots for Skyrim. These panoramic shots were captured in a 8K resolution, were stitched together with Kolor Autopano Giga and were slightly adjusted with PS CS5. For obvious reasons, we resized them to a more appropriate resolution. These shots will also give you an idea of how Skyrim looks when played on PC with three monitors. Awesome stuff and be sure to check them out. Enjoy! Continue reading Gorgeous HD Panoramic Skyrim Screenshots; captured in 8K Resolution→
Alongside the game’s beta announcement, Bohemia released four new screenshots for Carrier Command: Gaea Mission that can be viewed below. The beta, which will launch on April 6, offers a compressed version of the Strategic Campaign. Instead of following the Gaea Mission storyline, this mode spotlights the gameplay and is considered to be a great representative of the enormous amount of player freedom – as opposed to the more linear experiences seen in many other games. Although Project CARS’ lighting is amazing, Slightly Mad Studios is dedicating improving its lighting system even more. A month ago, Build 164 of Project CARS introduced an early version of the dynamic lighting system that allows racing at day & night and everything in between. However, the development team has been busy refining the system and today we bring you new previews of the lighting system’s latest evolution. We’ve been saying that CryEngine 3 is one of the most efficient and most impressive game engines out there and a few modders decided to prove our point. And although we decided to keep some maps for our upcoming ‘Weekly CryEngine 3 Gallery’ feature, we can’t help but be impressed by modder’s hostilis work. This is one of the best foliage maps we’ve ever seen and pushes 49k instances and 800k polies in screen. Not only that, but the modder has used his own textures. Make no mistake, this can’t be achieved by current generation consoles. High quality textures, great LOD, incredible draw distance, huge environments with lots of detail, insane amounts of objects on-screen, and a lighting system with dynamic shadows and illumination effects. You might think that this is a simple map but no, when you start taking into consideration all of the features that are included, you can easily see why we’re not getting this kind of graphics in our current generation games. You can find some shots below, as well as a fly-through video. Enjoy! Continue reading Crysis 2 Modder introduces a custom foliage map that pushes 49k instances and 800k polies→
Fanatec have uploaded a pretty interesting video that hints at Porsches coming to a ‘new racing sim’ game. The footage was recorded in the pit Sebastian Vettel used on his last F1 GP at Hockenheim Ring and there was a test session for all Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup teams and the introduction of a new racing simulation. Now if you look closely to the monitors, you’ll definitely notice Project CARS’ HUD. Not only that, but there are keyboards and mice on the ground, suggesting that this is actually a PC game. Slightly Mad Studios hasn’t denied it yet, so we can safely assume that Porsches are coming in Project CARS. In addition, we bring you today some new community shots from it. Enjoy! Lately, we’ve asking ourselves one simple question: what makes a great screenshot? Is it the insane amount of detail, the clever camera angles, the extensive use of post-process effects, how close it can get to actual photos or how lovely its artistic direction can actually be? It’s a really weird question and there is no definite answer to that. Take for example the work of jin.dot.gae1 and orangebrains. Their images are nowhere closer to real photos but they have something unique, something mesmerizing. On the other hand, j1731’s shots can’t be easily mistaken for real photos and that makes them unique in their own way. In the end, a great in-game screenshot is – in our opinion – the screenshot that will leave you speechless and will make you re-install and play that game. And the following shots made us do exactly that. Enjoy and special thanks to modders schakusa, 3lajitz, DenDi333, legacyy, King of K, Jaizeta, Black_D, Simple999 and ngt for capturing them! Continue reading Weekly GTA IV Gallery [March 25th – 31st]→
Although we have some interesting CryEngine 3 shots for all of you today, nothing can really come close to what modder ‘wenda’ has achieved. Wenda has released a video of his WIP map and we have to say that this is exactly how Skyrim would look like in CryEngine 3. The attention to detail is really amazing and although we’ve included an image from it, you really need to see it in motion. Alongside wenda’s work, we bring you some screenshots from the works of Cleric, RayFan9876, themodman101, [LSD]Timewarp82, birdeez and BmB. Enjoy! We’ve been covering extensively Project CARS these past weeks and admit it, it does look great, right? Well, time for a nice surprise as BSNismo – the man behind some impressive videos for Project CARS – has shared some astonishing screenshots from Project CARS’ rival, rFactor 2. rFactor 2 looks amazing and can look as good as Project CARS. Not only that, but ISI’s racing game is a better and more hardcore sim racing game. The tire deformation in particular is by far the best we’ve ever seen. rFactor 2 is currently in beta phase. Enjoy! Runic Games have released some new screenshots and a video for their upcoming action RPG game, Torchlight 2, to showcase the pets that will be available in the game. Players will be able to choose between a Ferret, a Chakawary, a Cat, a Bulldog, a Hawk, a Panther and a Wolf. According to the devs, pets have their own inventory, can learn spells, can be transformed temporarily or permanently into other creatures by feeding them certain fish, sell your unwanted inventory in town and will return with requested items from your shopping list. Torchlight 2 does not have an ETA yet. Enjoy! Continue reading Torchlight 2 gets new screenshots and a video to showcase the in-game pets→
Hayssam Keilany has released some amazing screenshots from his on-going 2.1 version of iCEnhancer for GTA IV. What’s really important here is that this version will support indirect lighting which – naturally – results to better image quality. The downside of this lighting method is that it introduces a slight ‘glow’ under car wheels. It can be noticed in some of the following screenshots. There is no ETA for this mod as of yet, so stay tuned for more news about it. Enjoy! Continue reading New drooling GTA IV iCEnhancer 2.1 Screenshots, new version supports indirect lighting→
