John Carmack – QuakeArena not newbie friendly for consoles, RAGE native linux client could happen

Ah, the good old days of Quake 3. Those frantic deathmatches can’t be easily forgotten and a lot of gamers are currently enjoying them via Quake Live. However, it appears that some people wish for a next generation version of iD’s best multiplayer game. Well, we got some bad news as there won’t going to be one anytime soon. When a fan asked for a new Quake 3 game, John Carmack said that it would not happen. The reason behind it is quite simple. According to Carmack, QuakeArena does not translate well to game controllers – due to its fast movements – and is not newbie friendly for a console for a console triple-A title. Therefore, there are no plans for resurrecting or developing a remake of it for current generation systems. AMD Catalyst 12.4 WHQL Released

AMD has released the WHQL version of their Catalyst 12.4 drivers. These drivers introduce some new features to the AMD Radeon HD 7900, AMD Radeon HD 7800, and AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series, such as Windows XP 32/64Bit support, Level of Detail (LOD) Image Quality enhancements when Super Sampling is enabled and significant performance enhancements (up to 80%) when MLAA is enabled. New Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 image revealed, morse code unveils Black Ops 2 as the game’s title

Call of Duty fans, here is something special for you. A new image for the new Call of Duty title was revealed. As you can see, there is a word in that image that reads ‘Tacitus’. Hold that thought, because this is something really important. According to our reader ‘Sid,’ Howard Coale was working in a promotion of MW3 and the very same guy was the boss of the company Tacitus. Great news for PC gamers as two multiplatform titles and one PC exclusive are currently available for pre-purchase on Valve’s distribution service. As always, pre-orders include some nice surprises and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City comes with a 10% discount. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is slated for a May 18th release. Leisure Suit Larry’s Kickstarter hits its goal of $500K USD, six days before ending

Great news for adventure fans as the Kickstarter campaign for Leisure Suit Larry In The Land Of The Lounge Lizards has finally hit its goal of $500K USD. This means that Larry will return on the PC, in a HD remake of its first game. This remake will feature freedom to play on mobile devices, a modern point-and-click/touchscreen interface, updated, ultra-high res graphics, fully voiced characters, as well as more of the humor that’s made Al Lowe so popular. Skyrim Realistic Overhaul – Version 1.3 Released

Skyrim Realistic Overhaul is – in our opinion – the best high resolution Texture Pack for Skyrim. The attention to detail is amazing and the quality of its textures is unmatched. Modder ‘Starac’ has released a new update for it that adds some missing normal maps and comes with new various new textures. Reset – Debut Trailer

Theory Interactive has released an impressive trailer for their upcoming puzzle game, Reset. Reset is a Single player co-op first person puzzle game with emphasis on story and atmosphere and everything you are about to see in the trailer is straight from the in-game engine. No up-ressed textures, geometry or effects. What you see is what you will get and it looks bloody amazing. Keep also in mind that the game is still in alpha phase, so it might get even prettier. STALKER 2 is dead; Long live Survarium, a free-to-play MMOFPS, spiritual successor to STALKER

And we saw that coming. Even though the STALKER 2 team was reassuring us that STALKER 2 would not be cancelled, we knew that wasn’t the truth. So, PC gamers, say goodbye to STALKER 2 and hello to Survarium. Survarium is what STALKER 2 was meant to be and can be considered as the spiritual successor to the first STALKER. The game is developed by Vostok Games, as GSC GameWorld has closed its doors and is no more. Oh, and this is no more a Single Player game but a free-to-play MMOFPS.
