Nintendo fans, here is something cool for you today. An unofficial PC version of the Nintendo GameCube Mario arcade soccer game, Super Mario Strikers, has just been released.
This unofficial PC port brings Super Mario Strikers to Windows, Linux, and macOS. As with most recompilations, it runs the game natively instead of using an emulator. The port keeps the original gameplay and visual style while adding many modern PC features.
For instance, the game supports high frame rates with custom frame limits and VSync. It also supports widescreen and ultrawide displays. The view of the pitch is expanded, and the aspect ratio is corrected. You can also increase the internal resolution. The port supports 4x MSAA and up to 16x anisotropic filtering.
Right now, the PC version supports three modern APIs. These are Metal, Vulkan, and Direct3D 12. Linux also has experimental OpenGL and OpenGL ES support.
Controller support is another major feature. You can use Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch Pro controllers. The port also supports compatible GameCube adapters. Not only that, but we also have support for the keyboard. Players can change keyboard and gamepad controls, stick deadzones, and rumble settings. Button prompts also match your active controller or keyboard.
Finally, the port has a separate settings app. You can use it to change graphics, controls, audio, and game data settings.
The main missing feature is online multiplayer. From what we know so far, its creator does not plan to add it. So, that’s kind of a bummer.
Anyway, those interested can download the PC version from here. As with all recompilations, it does not contain any in-game assets. This means that you have to provide your own ISO. For what it’s worth, the port supports the US, European, and Japanese versions.
In case you are into projects like these, you can also download the unofficial PC ports of Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. You can also play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Perfect Dark, and Jak & Daxter.
Furthermore, Brian Tate has brought the three classic SNES Donkey Kong Country games to PC. For our SNES fans, we also have a PC port of Star Fox. And, since we’ve already gotten four SNES games, I’d really love to see a PC version of Jurassic Park with KB&M support and HD textures. Now that would be awesome.
And that’s not all of them. We also have the unofficial PC ports of Mario Party 4, Sonic Unleashed, GoldenEye 007, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Silent Hill, and Super Smash Bros 64. Last month, we shared the unofficial PC ports of Gears of War 2 and Syphon Filter. Earlier this month, we shared the PC ports of Diddy Kong Racing and Ace Combat 6. Let’s also not forget the unofficial PC versions of Wave Race 64, Blue Dragon, and Pikmin. Finally, you can download the PC ports of Ninja Gaiden 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Tekken 3, Mario Kart Wii, and Pokemon Crystal.
Have fun!
