YouTube’s ‘Lone Wastelander’ has shared a video showcasing what Fallout: New Vegas could look like as a classic isometric RPG. If you are a classic Fallout fan, you should watch them, as they will immediately give you vibes from the first two Fallout games.
In the first video, we get to see Fallout 4. There are lots of areas that the video covers. For instance, we get to see Vault 111 Entrance, Red Rocket, Starlight Drive In, Diamond City, and Sanctuary Hills from an isometric view.
In the second video, the YouTuber first shows the Mojave Wasteland from above. He then visits some of the game’s most iconic interiors and locations to see how they look from a top-down view. The video features locations such as Doc Mitchell’s house and Mr. House’s secret stasis pod.
For those wondering, these videos are only meant to showcase what these two Fallout games would look like in the 90s. They are not functional mods. So, no. You can’t download a mod to transform Fallout 4 or Fallout: New Vegas into a classic isometric RPG.
If you want to try some mods for Fallout 4 or Fallout: New Vegas, you can try the following ones.
Let’s start with Fallout 4 and this LOD mod that reduces distant object/shadow/texture pop-ins. Then we have the Disk Cache Enabler Mod. There’s also a mod that adds ragdoll physics and collisions to dead bodies. Another amazing mod is this one that fixes the game’s long loading times. DirectHit is a mod that overhauls the AI of enemies. And let’s not forget this mod that adds real locational damage to all enemies. We also have this mod that adds 10 driveable cars/vehicles with Havok physics, as well as this Enhanced Movement Mod. Modders have even brought Fallout: New Vegas’ skill system to it.
To improve performance, you can use the following mods. For instance, there is a mod that adds support for NVIDIA DLSS 2, AMD FSR 2, and Intel XeSS. And then we have this free AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Gen Mod.
Earlier this month, I shared a mod that aims to eliminate most of the game’s traversal stutters. This is a must-have mod. Thanks to it, Fallout 4 will feel much smoother. So, be sure to download it.
America Rising 2 is another fan DLC/expansion mod that integrates the Enclave faction into the main story with 24 main quests. Hunter’s Abyss and Caves Of The Commonwealth are two other fan expansion mods. Let’s also not forget Fallout London, which looks promising. Misery Island is another DLC-sized fan expansion. You can also download Sim Settlements 2 – Chapter 3, Whispering Hills, which is a cool Silent Hill mod, and The Wilderness Mod.
For our horror fans, there is a horror quest mod that is inspired by Lovecraft, Resident Evil, and Dead Space. In The Flesh is not the only horror quest mod we have shared, though. Earlier this month, we also reported on another horror quest mod that was inspired by the Aliens franchise. So, if you are a fan of it, you should definitely check it out.
A few months ago, we also shared a brand new dark quest mod, called Project A.R.E.S. Let’s also not forget Atom’s Retribution, which offers 24+ hours of gameplay and 40+ new quests. Fallen World is another cool mod for Fallout 4. This is said to offer the hardest survival experience. Oh, and the Mass Effect Evolution Mod is once again available for download.
For Fallout: New Vegas, you can start with this mod, which adds real-time reflections. Another one changes over 1,000 functions to make the game run smoother. Plus, there’s a mod to make the game’s characters even smarter. Another must-have mod is this one, which improves collision accuracy and fixes/optimizes meshes.
In June 2024, we shared a mod that brought some STALKER-like anomalies to the game. Moreover, you can get this mod that adds physically-based vehicles to the game. And if you love quests, there’s a mod that gives you an endless supply of new ones. Let’s also not forget the Visuals Improved Content Expanded Mod. This mod fills the surroundings of Vegas to make it feel more like a real city.
There are also some cool fan-made expansions for New Vegas. Three of them are being made as we speak. These are Fallout: Broken City, Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, and Star Wars Open Worlds. On the other hand, we have these DLC-sized mods that you can grab and play right now. So, you can download Fallout New California, Fallout: Free Cheyenne Demo, and Fallout New Vegas: Out of Bounds. We also have Fallout The Frontier and Retribution 2. Another cool fan expansion is Tales of New Reno.
Let’s also not forget Dawn of Stealthtenza, another DLC-sized expansion mod that offers 3 hours of new content. There is also a demo of another fan remake mod for the canceled Fallout 3 game, called Fallout Revelation Blues. Plus, you can download the first version of Fallout: The New West, which aims to recreate the canceled Van Buren game. Finally, we have a demo for Fallout: Chicago.
