Here’s something cool for our Metal Gear Solid fans. YouTube’s ‘Maxime THOMAS LE DEORE’ has released a fan remake of the first Metal Gear Solid game.
As the YouTuber noted, this remake is not intended to be a recreation of the entire game. Instead, it is a tribute that includes a tutorial level, two levels from the original game, and all the boss fights from it.
In other words, this isn’t a project that simply has maps from an old game in a new engine. It has proper gameplay mechanics. This alone makes it feel better than the majority of the fan remakes we’ve shared.
And look, I know this may disappoint some fans who wanted a full remake. But let’s be realistic here. A full remake of the first MGS by a single dev is an impossible task. So, look at it from the bright side. It at least has enough content for those who want to get a taste of what MGS would look like on a modern-day engine.
What’s interesting here is that this fan remake is built on Unity Engine. This isn’t “another UE5 Fan Remake.”

From what I’ve seen, the project does not use any of the assets used in any of the Metal Gear Solid games. So, I don’t think Konami will attempt to shut it down. Still, you never know what will happen in the future, which is another reason why you should get it right now.
Speaking of fan remakes, you can also download and play a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. For Mario fans, we have this cool Super Mario Galaxy Tech Demo in Unreal Engine 5.
And that’s not all. There is a cool remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 that you can download. Or how about this free Attack on Titan game? Oh, and let’s not forget the amazing ports of Skyrim and Oblivion.
Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these three tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town. The third is the Venice Tech Demo we shared a few days ago. We also have a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5, as well as a remake of Konami’s canceled PT. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, a demo for Need for Speed: Underground 2, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.
