In December 2021, modder ‘y2keeth’ released an HD overhaul mod for the first Prey game. And earlier today, the modder released a brand new version of this unofficial HD remaster for this classic FPS game.
Prey HiDef attempts to improve the graphics of the game by improving its textures and 3D models, as well as adding full shadows map files.
While y2keeth has not provided any changelog, we can assume that this latest version improves more textures (and perhaps additional 3D models). Thus, if you plan to replay this game, we suggest downloading the mod from here. Version 2.0 is 6.47GB in size, whereas its previous version was only 2.85GB.
Lastly, you can find below some screenshots and a gameplay video. These screenshots should give you a better idea of what you can expect from the mod.

You’d be surprised how many people still do this today. I assume it’s usually because they don’t understand how to configure their screen recording software, or because their upstream bandwidth is so low that uploading a 1080p video would take way too long.
I’m so spoiled being on fiber, I will literally upload videos that are 60+ GB in size because it just doesn’t matter. Not that the end quality ends up being any better unless its HDR, because my channel is too small for YouTube to use VP9 for my videos and their H.264 quality is extremely poor.

Reddit does the same thing. It significantly reduces the amount of disk space that the videos take up, and the amount of bandwidth used when people watch them.

After all these years still holds up because of good semi realistic art style with visual and conceptual variety which is lacking in many games now .

Finally i couldnt enjoy the game without having hd textures on the alien vagina doors.
Sadly still capped at 63 fps, anything above that and the game speeds up. Waiting for AI frame generation.
I have fond memories of this game. I loved how you learned new skills: you ventured into a dream state and an indian shaman taught you sh*t while a campfire crackled in the background. maximum comfy. to this day this is the most original skill upgrade idea. absolutely brilliant game

New mod files ask for a CD Key through Steam, which Steam doesn’t inherently need for this game, nor does it give one for you to type in. Useless mod for Steam users.
Have you tried putting a cd key from search sites?
I could do it the hard way, but I’m more upset that it’s not a plug and play mod. Also, the language changes to spanish with no options in the menu to change it back to english. Not worth the trouble.

sorry for speaking like yoda lol
just found out ng shaders is what changed the language to Spanish I will see how to fix that
patch 2.1 fixes that Spanish issue but you will still need to change it back in the preyconfig.cfg
made a patch for that issue you will still need to change your default language like shown in the other comment
