Epic Games Shows Incredible New Anti-Aliasing Technique – Screenshots + Video Comparison

Epic Games has revealed some comparison screenshots and a video for its new anti-aliasing technique that was first used in its Infiltrator Tech Demo. Epic’s AA solution is called Temporal AA, is supported by Unreal Engine 4.4, and promises to be among the best modern-day AA techniques. We do have to note, however, that while Temporal AA does an incredible job at eliminating jaggies, it slightly blurs the whole image (a side effect similar to the one introduced by FXAA). Enjoy! CRYENGINE Beaten At Its Own Game – New Unreal Engine 4 Map Shows Amazing Forest Environment

It seems that Unreal Engine 4 will be the engine that most developers will be using to power their games. Or at least it will be more popular than Crytek’s CRYENGINE, as Epic’s engine is now capable of rendering forest – and jungle – maps that look as good (if not better) as the ones of CRYENGINE. YouTube’s member ‘Hristo Rusanov’ has shared a video from his Forest map, showing a map with dense grass and wind physics applied to the vegetation. It looks amazing (keep also in mind that it’s being created by an individual and that it’s still a WIP project), so make sure to give it a go! The Witcher 3 – CRYENGINE vs REDengine Comparison + Doom 2 Remake In Unreal Engine 4

Crydev member ‘qpffhtmxj’ has recreated in CRYENGINE the swamp level (or at least part of it) from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, giving us a glimpse at the differences between CRYENGINE and REDengine. While this fan-made map is being compared to a level created by a whole team (which doesn’t seem fair at all), it does show some differences in the lighting system of these two engines. In addition, you can find below a very early WIP map from ‘SahkanISR’ that shows what a modern-day remake of Doom 2 would look like in Unreal Engine 4. Enjoy!
