Nvidia Unveils Next-Generation Physics – FLEX Unified GPU PhysX Coming Next Year

Nvidia has unveiled a new technology for its PhysX SDK called FLEX: Unified GPU PhysX. According to the team, this is a unified solver that works wonderfully with multi-GPU systems. FLEX: Unified GPU PhysX supports two-way coupling effects, shared collision detection and parallelism at all stages. This practically means that there can be more complex physx calculations without major performance hits – something that was quite common on the previous builds of PhysX. Nvidia has released a new set of WHQL drivers for its graphics cards. According to ManuelG – Nvidia’s employee – this new driver comes with bugs Nvidia discovered during its internal testing and this is why those fixes are not listed in the release notes. During this year’s PAX Prime, Nvidia showcased its Fur Tech that will be used in The Witcher 3. In this demo, Nvidia showcased what its latest tech looks like, however it seems that this particular technique will require a really high-end graphics card in order to be enjoyed. In fact, Nvidia demoed its Fur tech at a mere resolution of 1024×768 and the Titan card was able to only push 65fps when there were two wolves on screen. Nvidia GeForce 326.80 Beta Out, Increases Performance In Splinter Cell: Blacklist & Several Games

Following AMD’s example, Nvidia has released a new set of drivers for its graphics cards. The GeForce 326.80 Beta comes with increased performance in Splinter Cell: Blacklist and in several games for GeForce 400/500/600/700 Series GPUs. In addition, this driver pack sports a new version for Nvidia’s PhysX software, adds native support for 4K displays, adds support for TXAA under OpenGL and adds SLI profiles for both Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Batman: Arkham Origins.
