According to its schedule, NVIDIA’s Stuart Oberman will talk about the company’s next-generation mainstream GPU, hinting towards a possible Q3 release. AMD has slightly increased its GPU market share in the first quarter of 2018, Intel remains the king
Jon Peddie Research, the industry’s market research firm for the graphics industry, has released its Q1 2018 market report. According to the report, year-to-year total GPU shipments increased 3.4%, desktop graphics increased 14% and notebooks decreased -3%. And even though AMD has slightly increased its GPU market share, overall GPU shipments decreased -10% from last quarter (AMD decreased -6%, Nvidia decreased -10%, and Intel decreased -11%). DICE has announced that it will be partnering with NVIDIA for the PC version of Battlefield V. As the press release reads, NVIDIA engineers are working with the Battlefield V developers to bring the best aspects of the GeForce gaming platform to bear for PC gamers, meaning GeForce Experience will deliver Game Ready drivers, Optimal Playable settings, and other NVIDIA-platform features for Battlefield V. Tomshardware has reported that the new high-end NVIDIA graphics card, the GTX1180, will be released in July 2018. Epic Games suggests devs to use NVIDIA’s RTX real-time ray tracing, NVIDIA will bring it to Vulkan
At GDC 2018, NVIDIA showcased its brand new real-time ray tracing tech, RTX. NVIDIA RTX consists of a highly scalable ray-tracing technology running on NVIDIA Volta architecture GPUs and it was officially announced for DX12, although it is architected to support ray tracing through a variety of interfaces. NVIDIA has just announced that it will pull the plug on its GeForce Partner Program (GPP). Although NVIDIA claims that most partners agreed to its program, that they own their brands and GPP didn’t change that, it will end this program.
