Valve Has Just Filed A Trademark For Half Life 3 In The European Union [UPDATE]

Half Life 3 v2

Megaton incoming or not? Valve today trademarked Half Life 3 in Europe. In case you’re wondering then no, this is not a prank. Valve has officially filed a trademark for Half Life 3. Now the question is whether Valve is actually working on it or not. Is Half Life 3 actually happening or is Valve trying to protect its IP by filing a trademark (you know, in case others want to get their hands on that name)? Still, it’s quite interesting to say the least, so let’s see how this story unfolds. Kudos to NeoGAF’s member ‘shinobi602’ for spotting it, who was also kind enough to also capture the following images. Believe! Valve: When we announce Half Life 3, we’ll do it our way

It’s really ironic, isn’t it? E3 is about to start and – as you’d expect – there is no mention or hints about Half Life 3. Okay, there were some onion rings but… come on. You can’t possibly take that onion rings seriously now, can you? Unless of course they are really tasteful, in which case Valve should keep them coming. Apart from those onion rings though, Valve has not revealed anything and according to the company’s Chet Faliszek, when Valve announce Half Life 3, they’ll do it their way and not by simply revealing it via a T-Shirt or some hidden web code. Half Life 3 news coming in Q2 2012 according to fansite Blappeture

Remember that GameStop placeholder we mentioned yesterday? Well, I’ll be damned, it seems that it was not a simple placeholder after all. Keep reading because there is a hidden message at the Blappeture website that was recently launched. This is a HL/Portal fansite, we know that much, so as always take everything you read with a grain of salt. Go ahead and take a closer look at the website’s source code. Come on, go ahead and you will find something that will blow you away… provided that it’s legit. Continue reading Half Life 3 news coming in Q2 2012 according to fansite Blappeture

Half Life 3 Fan-Made Commercial: Join The Resistance

Pat Goodwin – from Equilitree – directed a short non-commercial film for Half-Life 3. This video lasts around 2 minutes and has a narration about the Resistance and Gordon Freeman’s history. It’s pretty basic, but at the same time it’s easy to the eyes and kind of cool. It doesn’t have those funky special effects of all other fan-made Half-Life films but then again, that’s not a bad thing as its artistic direction is completely different. Enjoy! Now this is really interesting. A couple of hours ago, IGN and Valve teased gamers about an incoming announcement. According to Valve, players should keep an eye on all the feeds from Valve’s Twitter account as something special will be announced pretty soon. Gabe Newell talks about Half-Life 2: Episode 3; Silence is fairer to the fans, no E3 news about HL3

Half-Life fans, here is some bad and some really bad news. In a recent interview with SevenDayCoolDown, Gabe revealed that Valve’s silence is fairer to the Half Life fans. According to Gabe, Valve has not finalised the formula yet and they are still experimenting with Half Life 3’s concept. Currently, there are a lot of twists and turns and those decisions could possibly drive Half-Life fans more crazy. Operation Crowbar commenced by Valve’s fans

Now this is interesting. In an attempt to get Valve’s attention, Valve’s fans decided to commence Operation Crowbar. The operation involves buying a $7 crowbar from Amazon and shipping it to Valve’s offices until “Valve is up to their nipples in crowbars“. Ooooooooooookay, we get that Valve’s fans are annoyed with the company’s stance over these past few weeks, but seriously? On the other hand, this is awesome and funny at the same time and… well… kudos to the community for its dedication. Continue reading Operation Crowbar commenced by Valve’s fans

Chet Faliszek says that there is no ARG; thoughts on Valve’s response

It seems that Half Life 3 is drawing a lot of attention these days and Valve’s Chet Faliszek tried to put an end to all rumors regarding it. According to Faliszek, there is no ARG right now and that the community has been trolled by someone. Fair enough, this could very well be the case but some new questions arose from Faliszek’s response. Continue reading Chet Faliszek says that there is no ARG; thoughts on Valve’s response

Half Life 3 Website Might Be Valid; HTML Code Reveals Some New Hints

You’ve heard that a HL3 website went live, right? And most of you are wondering whether this website is valid or not. At first glance, this site seems bogus as a whois shows that the Corporation owning this site is not Valve but hold your horses everyone. Why? Because Network Solutions was the exact same company Valve used when sending out hints regarding Portal in 2006. Continue reading Half Life 3 Website Might Be Valid; HTML Code Reveals Some New Hints

Are we that desperate for Half-Life 3 or is Valve truly hinting towards a 2012 reveal?

Man, this simply can’t be a simple coincidence. It’s pretty much clear that most of us want to see Half-Life 3 and it’s true that Valve has been hinting for it, but is that all we got? Apparently not as all hell has broken loose these past days. Forget the HL3 T-Shirt and the fact that Gabe Newell – that’s according to an insider so take it with a grain of salt – has given the green light to Valve’s employees to start hinting about the next Half-Life title. Yeah, those are quite good enough in order to assume that we’ll have some news about HL3 in 2012 but Valve themselves has given us lots of little hints and easter eggs these past days.
