Kotaku has spotted an interesting new video, in which we get a taste of Sonic the Hedgehog in first person mode. This video is similar to the one that was made for Super Mario Bros, though we have to admit that this ‘Sonic’ version feels a bit off. To be honest, Sonic game in first person mode would simply not work, and this video proves that SEGA’s platformer is not meant to be played via any other viewpoint, aside from the classic side-scrolling one of course. Nvidia Showcases Cloud Based Indirect Lighting At Siggraph 2013

Siggraph 2013 is currently under way and Nvidia has showcased some impressive cloud techniques that it is currently working on. During its presentation, Nvidia showed some cloud based indirect lighting techniques that could be used in next-gen titles. Before jumping to early conclusions, this is not similar to what Xbox One and PS4 will be doing. Nvidia will be using its machines to boost the lighting effects, meaning that this technique will improve a game’s visuals. Or at least that’s what the green team aims to. 5 Lives Studios has released a new, technology, video for its upcoming strategy title, Satellite Reign, in which the company showcased the screen space raytraced reflections that will be utilized in it. 5 Lives Studios used an Intel i5 2500 with a GTX 560Ti and ran this tech demo at 1635×920 with 40FPS (in Editor mode which is said to be slower than the actual game). GOG.com and Interceptor Entertainment have released a video Q&A, in which Frederik Schreiber answers GOG.com users’ questions about Rise of the Triad. Rise of the Triad promises to keep the map layout of the old-school shooters, and to be as fun as its original version. Interceptor wanted to pay tribute to the old-school 90s FPS titles, and Rise of the Triad promises to be gory, fast, and fun. The game is scheduled for a July 31st release, exclusively on the PC. BeamNG has released a new video from its first racing game that is currently under development. This racing game is in alpha build, will be powered by Torgue 3D – as well as the amazing next-gen physics engine of BeamNG – and there isn’t any ETA as of yet. BeamNG aims to release first its physics solution, so here is hoping that it won’t have a negative impact to the game itself.
