Dear developers and publishers, start taking notes; Field of View is really important to all PC gamers. Yes, your game might look awesome in consoles and on TV’s, but on a PC monitor, it does not. Part of that is due to the distance between the gamer and the TV/monitor. That distance is reduced when gaming on a PC – that is not hooked up on a HDTV – and a low FOV setting can cause headaches to a lot of your customers. We get it, a small FOV is a clever way to gain more performance from current-generation consoles but there should always be an option for it in the PC version of your games. According to Nordic Games, the game’s publisher, the retail version of Alan Wake PC will be hitting online and retail stores in March 2nd in Europe. No word yet for the release date of the North American version of the retail but we can asume that it will be around that time. Codemasters announced that DiRT 3 Complete Edition, a compendium box set featuring the multi award-winning racer expanded with over £20 (€25) worth of additional content, will race into stores on March 9th for X360, PS3 and PC with a suggested price of £29.99 (€39.99). All hell has broken loose when Blizzard’s community manager, Bashiok, tweeted that Diablo 3 would not support chat channels. We can’t see anything wrong with that – as PC gamers can use Teamspeak and other similar programs – but it seems that a lot of you got annoyed by that. And naturally, a lot of Diablo fans started complaining and thought that Blizzard have turned their back on them. Well, good news everyone as Bashiok was wrong and public chat channels WILL be available in Diablo 3. Skyrim was one of the most anticipated games of 2011 and as you’d expect, a DLC for it will be released this year. Although we don’t have any release date or juicy details about it, VP of PR and marketing for Bethesda, Pete Hines, hinted in his Twitter that a DLC is a ‘safe bet‘ and we should stay tuned for more. Bethesda will obviously focus on it now that both the Creation Kit and Patch 1.4 are out of the way, so expect some news about it in the coming weeks or months. Great news for all strategy fans as Eugen Systems’ upcoming action strategy, Wargame: European Escalation, is now available for pre-order on Steam and comes with access to the multiplayer-beta test that will be available in a couple of days. Daedalic Entertainment and Deep Silver present a video-teaser for the PC-game The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav, in which sequences of the game are shown. The gripping The Dark Eye-Adventure takes place in the familiar fantasy world Aventuria. In the tranquil Andergast the protagonist Geron gets on to the track of a mysterious crow plague and, with the help of his mystical companion Nuri, starts a mission to find the source of the evil.
