Small success: SOPA hearings have been postponed

 

Good news everyone as the SOPA hearings that were about to take place on January 18th have been postponed. As we’ve stated and before, the bill needs to be re-worked because at its current form, it’s simply not acceptable. This has nothing to do with piracy, as we – and pretty much every other gaming website – are against it. So, this is a small success indeed, but the fight is not over yet. Release Date, Prices and a New Platform Announced for Unstoppable Gorg

Today, Futuremark Games Studio revealed that in addition to the previously announced versions for PC, XBLA and iPad, Unstoppable Gorg will also be released for Apple Mac computers. Unstoppable Gorg will launch as a Steam Play title on Steam meaning the game can be bought once, and then played on both Mac and PC. New DLC announced for Dead Island

Deep Silver today announced the upcoming release of a brand new story DLC for the award-winning game Dead Island. This DLC offers a unique new perspective into the incidents in the main story of Dead Island: This time the player will get the chance to play as Ryder White, the antagonist of the main game; learn more about his motivations and why, from his point of view, he did what he had to do. Overgrowth Alpha 165 Changes

Wolfire Games released a new video, in which the team’s main programmer, David Rosen, shows off the changes that were made to Overgrowth’s latest alpha version. David has added basic knife throw auto-targeting and controls and this indie, lovely, game gets better each and every week. Insane 2 is coming to Steam on January 19th

GFI announced today that Insane 2 is coming to Steam on January 19th. Insane 2 features 10 game modes, including the popular “Capture the flag”, “Gate hunt” and “Pathfinder”, 18 vehicles of different classes, more than one hundred and fifty races combined into championships and cup competitions take place in Europe, America, Africa and the Antarctic. The game was available for quite some time through GamersGate and we are happy to see it hitting Valve’s Steam. Let’s hope now that it will priced at a low price. Weekly Top 10 PC Charts; UK PC Retail and Steam Digital Charts [January 8th – 14th]

The UK PC charts are out and as we can see, there is no significant change in the Top 10 best-selling PC games. Football Manager 2012 is still at the first place, followed by Star Wars: The Old Republic and Skyrim, which gained four whole places. Both The Sims 3 and Modern Warfare 3 have lost one place, whereas Battlefield 3 remained at the same place. The big surprise this week comes from BlueByte’s strategy game, Anno 2070 to get back in the Top 10 list and is placed at the ninth place. Surprise surprise: Mass Effect 3 won’t appear on Steam; will require Origin

Call us unimpressed but we saw this coming. And frankly, it’s natural as EA wants to establish their digital distribution service. As the title suggests, EA’s Origin will be required for all PC editions of Mass Effect 3, physical or digital. Not only that, but Mass Effect 3 will not appear on Steam. EA and BioWare stated that Mass Effect 3 will be available through both Origin and third-party digital retailers, but not via Valve’s distribution service. Does this ring any bell?
