And the time has finally come. After the unofficial PC ports of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, we have another Zelda game on PC. So, an unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker has just been released.

The unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker brings many useful PC features to the classic GameCube game. It runs natively on Windows and uses Direct3D 12 for graphics.

The port supports 16:9 and 16:10 widescreen. You can also keep the original 4:3 view. It supports 60 FPS and 120 FPS with Smooth Motion. There is also an early 60 FPS mode that runs the game itself at 60 FPS on Windows.

What’s also incredibly cool here is that the PC port supports controllers, keyboard, and mouse. The mouse can control the camera, while the keyboard has full game controls. This is super cool for someone like me who prefers playing third-person games with KB&M. On the other hand, gamepad players can use a fast right-stick camera with a controller.

The port also supports resolutions up to 4K and up to 16x texture filtering. It can use HD texture packs in Dolphin format. This will allow you to improve the game’s image quality even more.

It also adds many quality-of-life options from Wind Waker HD. These include the Swift Sail, faster text, faster climbing, and quick doors. Scene changes are also much faster.

The port keeps saves outside the app, so updates do not remove them. It also supports mods and lets players turn features on or off from the settings menu.

All in all, this is currently the best way to experience The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and it’s only possible on PC. So, if you’ve been a fan of it, you can go ahead and download the unofficial PC port from this link. Do note that it does not contain any in-game assets. So, to play it, you’ll have to provide your own ROM file. Right now, the project only supports the US GZLE01 Rev 0 version.
