Industry insider dismisses the latest Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster rumors

Some new rumors regarding a possible remaster/remake of Mass Effect Trilogy surfaced last week. However, industry insider “Shinobi602” dismissed them, claiming that they are as fake as they can get.

Let’s take things from the beginning though. Last week, Reddit’s user aspiretobegood, who claimed to be a Q&A tester at EA/BioWare, shared some details about the rumored Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster. According those rumors, EA would be bringing all games to the Frostbite Engine. Moreover, the publisher would be making major gameplay changes to the first Mass Effect game.

Now here is the first red flag. Even though EA has not announced any plans for a Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster, it’s unlikely too these games on Frostbite Engine. BioWare encounter major difficulties while developing Mass Effect Andromeda and Dragon Age Inquisition. Not only that, but the team is busy with both Anthem 2.0 and the new Dragon Age game. So yeah, right from the start, this sounded like a wishful thinking and nothing more.

The Redditor also listed some other details, like changes to planet exploration, Galaxy Map and Galaxy Exploration in the first Mass Effect game, restoration of cut content and more. Still, and as Shinobi602 claimed, these rumors are fake so you should not believe them. We immediately though the same thing, which is why we hadn’t reported on them.

Some people suggested that EA would announce this remaster at its EA Play 2020 event. However, and as we all know by now, the publisher did not reveal such a thing.

Lastly, and as we’ve already reported, PC gamers can already enjoy remasters of the first three Mass Effect games thanks to some truly amazing mods!

  1. Original trilogy contains a male protagonist, so it wouldn’t have fit the agenda, even though it would have made them a quite a buck if done properly.

    2. You see this is the fuqin problem when you see SJW in EVERYthing, you end up talking SCHITT. Pure unadulterated Dog SCHITT. ME Trilogy is both Male & Female, Same lines, Same Dialogue, same action and same everything if you play as male or Female. This has been evident/prominent in every BIOWARE GAME for the last 25 years. Had you play the God damn trilogy you would know that. Instead you are here making a fool of yourself.

      I’ve sat for months and years and watch everything in the comment section of DSO be about gender this, race this, sjw this & Kuck this, aren’t y’all tired of this nonsense. Yes it exists, yes the industry has these agendas but don’t bring it with you everywhere you go. C’mon man try harder for Fuq sakes. It’s as if y’all don’t wanna be happy.

      It’s also quite evident that 98% of you don’t read these articles, you just see a title and start ranting off about SJW agendas. Because this article ain’t talking about none of you are talking about. The comment section DSO has become pure green bile of toxic ooze. WTF is wrong with you/ya’ll.

  2. Maybe at most a remaster of ME1 would be good but really I’m fine with it and with ME2 and ME3. The trilogy was great as it is imo. You can change the ending of ME3 if you want to and use a trainer to bypass the need for multiplayer in ME3.

    I remember playing ME1 when it came out and got completely immersed in the game. It was hard to walk away from it even after hours of play. There was so much to do and it was almost all fun for me but I am biased to good science fiction games. It’s a shame that BioWare began it’s descent into EA hell after that game.

    1. There’s no need for multiplayer in ME3.

      They patched out the war readiness trash years ago. It’s literally impossible to get above 50% preparedness in the game now, no matter what, but you only need to fill the meter up to the line (about 80%) in order to unlock the “true ending”.

  4. The dude posing as the tester is clearly an amateur.
    If he intended to keep the rumor believable, he should’ve just stated:
    The games are just being up-res-ed to 1080p or 4K and some quality of life improvements are getting incorporated. Just like Halo MCC.
    At max he could’ve added they’re getting ported from UE3 to UE4, just like Return to Arkham Collection.

    “Rebuilding the games in Frostbite??” ? That’ll be more of a Remake.

      unreal engine i think has been making better strides for mo-cap and in-game cinemas.

      1. ME: Andromeda was doomed from the beginning because EA assigned one of BioWare’s studios to the project that was way to inexperienced to make a AAA game to begin with much less a game of the caliber of Mass Effect.

        EA assigned this project to BioWare Montreal. They were a support studio. Andromeda was their first AAA game and predictably they botched it. EA merged BioWare Montreal with EA Motive after Andromeda released.

        It all goes back to EA. The CEO (Andrew Wilson) makes stupid decisions and stupid things happen as a result but they make a lot of money anyway because most gamers buy without researching anything.

  7. I’m replaying the trilogy (finished ME1, cannot believe how good the writing in the game is, feels like from a different universe-time, installing ME2 right now) with ALOT of textures mod, there’s your “Remaster”.

    1. I wish that ME2 controlled as freely as ME3 did. Me 2 was developed during an era where you can only move in a straight line, that’s the only thing i hate about visiting that game. But it is the best in the trilogy. The difficulty in that game would but any From Software game to joke.

      2. Yeah, the games are serviceable gameplay wise (they clearly dumbed down a lot the mechanics the more popular the IP became, 3 is almost like a COD in third person :P), but the universe and characters are so good that i don’t even care. Visually with mods holds up pretty well.
        I’m considering replaying Andromeda, i hate myself it seems.

        1. Yeah, the funny thing is Andromeda is a good game but is a bad mass effect game. If they didn’t call it mass effect, would be no problem. But it’s basically a soulless mass effect. World building wise, andromeda is what we were asking for after ME3, but in terms of gameplay and story it’s rubbish. It just feels like a “Passion Project” of someone learning how to develop a game. You’re basically replaying it or considering because it’s pretty. that’s probably what it is.

          1. Andromeda is not a good game at all, doesn’t matter what the title is. I suggest replaying it. Every single component of that game is a colossally disappointing failure. Utter trash. The only positive thing about Andromeda is that you have a jetpack on your suit and the worlds are more open than ME2 and 3 so it feels like you have freedom, but you don’t.

            ME2 and ME3 have the exact same animations and control scheme so I don’t know what you’re talking about. 3 does not control “more freely” than 2. They both have the same animation delays and lack of fluid mobility in combat.

  8. The only advantage of an ME remaster anyway would have been achievements. It’s easy enough to apply ALOT or MEIUTM to all 3 games and they look better than Andromeda. The DLC all being in one package would have been nice but you can’t expect EA to do that because that would have been a good move.

    Also, this means nothing, this dude knows as little about it as anyone else. There could still be and probably will be a trilogy remaster.

    Shinobi is also an illiterate urban millennial with trash taste in games, which you can learn from 20 seconds of looking at his Twitter, so I’m gonna pass on considering him an authority figure. Never even heard of Escapist magazine.

        1. Just so you know, there is a way to create a “fresh” account and don’t require “multiple sock puppet” accounts to do so. However for GameZard’s case, he did it incorrectly. If only Disqus had a message system, I would tell you in private.

          1. Thanks for having my back, Anson. We both hate GameZard with a passion and I’m glad I’m not the only one. This guy constantly taints my name and keeps accusing others I’m them, even if I’m not there to see it.

          2. If he was actually smart, he would had took his username with him instead of making others with different ones now that his old one can be used by someone else. Which is what happened and is gone.

            I’m going to try to keep my “fresh” account clean as possible so he can’t dig up anymore crap about me. This time, I blocked him.

You don’t need to make “sock puppet accounts” as there’s a way to have only one account while keeping your username on a new one. Proves how easy you can get manipulated on Disqus. Plus, the list he mentioned are people from OAG. That is a dead giveaway that he’s probably one of those site members.

          Anyway, glad that channel he replied to is gone. Thank goodness. I also wished I had picture proof like you, but all of the comments from OAG have been deleted. So it will be difficult for me to prove my case to others. OAG are the racist ones, not me.
