A new Malware strain dubbed as ‘Lucifer’ is affecting most of the Windows PCs, abusing critical vulnerabilities

A new variant of a powerful cryptojacking and DDoS-based malware is exploiting severe vulnerabilities in Windows machines, and affecting them in the process. Dubbed as “Lucifer”, this new malware is part of an active campaign against Windows hosts and uses a variety of ‘exploits’ in the latest wave of attacks, Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 said on their recent blog post. Microsoft blocks Windows Update from being used in Windows 7/8.1 on AMD’s & Intel’s newest CPUs

A few months ago, Microsoft announced that it would not support AMD’s Ryzen and Intel’s Kaby Lake CPUs in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. However, we did not expect the company to block the complete usage of its Windows Update tool on those particular systems. Microsoft Disables Safedisc DRM On Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, & Windows 8/8.1

Last month, we informed you about a Windows 10 update that disabled Safedisc DRM on Microsoft’s latest operating system. Well, it appears that Microsoft has applied this security update on all its other operating systems as well. This basically means that the Safedisc DRM is disabled on Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, thus rendering a number of games unplayable.
