PhysX Showcases The Best Real-Time Fluids – Position Based Fluids Demoed

PhysX water
PhysX.info showcased a new fluid simulation algorithm called Position Based Fluids. We’ve criticized PhysX effects in the past, but this new algorithm sports the best real-time fluids (aka water) we’ve ever seen. It’s no stretch to say that this digital water comes close to the real deal, which is a big accomplishment. It is said that more details on this a new technique will be available later on, in a SIGGRAPH 2013 paper. Currently there are no games taking advantage of this technique, so here is hoping that developers will start using both PhysX 3.0 and the latest techniques that have been introduced to the latest PhysX builds (this new fluid simulation technique will be added in future versions of PhysX SDK or APEX modules). According to YouTube’s ‘Zogrim’ who uploaded the video, a GTX580 was able to handle both sim (~ 130k particles) and rendering at 30 fps. Enjoy! Entering The Next-Gen Era Of Mobile Devices – Kepler Mobile Running Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 v8
During Nvidia’s investor day, chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang showed off the company’s next-generation mobile chip, dubbed Kepler Mobile. In order to showcase how more powerful this mobile chip will actually be, Huang, showed off Kepler Mobile running Battlefield 3. And ironically, it looks pretty good (and way better than anything we’ve seen on other mobile devices). VentureBeat has uploaded an off-camera video of BF3 running on Kepler Mobile that can be viewed below. Enjoy and welcome to the next-gen era of mobile devices! Continue reading Entering The Next-Gen Era Of Mobile Devices – Kepler Mobile Running Battlefield 3

Nvidia: PS4 & X720 are 3X slower than the GeForce Titan – AMD: We gave PS4 what Nvidia couldn’t

AMD vs Nvidia
Now this is great. Almost two weeks ago, Nvidia claimed that it was not worth investing on consoles and that was precisely why they did not bother with PS4 and X720. As Tony Tamasi, Senior VP of content and technology at Nvidia, stated back then, Nvidia came to the conclusion that it didn’t want to do the business at the price Sony was willing to pay. And as you’d expect, AMD decided to stand up and face Nvidia, claiming that they were able to offer PS4 the hardware Nvidia couldn’t. Nvidia Releases An Impressive Massive Destruction Tech Demo (GDC 2013 Video)

Nvidia
Nvidia’s Matthias Müller-Fischer has released a GDC 2013 tech demo, showcasing some impressive physics calculations and destruction effects. According to Matthias and Nvidia, this demo was running in real-time on a GTX680 with 30fps and shows off Real-Time Dynamic Fracture. It looks cool, though this technique does not currently support structures that can collapse due to their own weight. Still, Nvidia promised to support such a feature in the future. Enjoy the video after the jump! Continue reading Nvidia Releases An Impressive Massive Destruction Tech Demo (GDC 2013 Video)

Next-Generation Features Showcased At GTC2013

GTC2013
During this year’s GTC2013, Nvidia showcased some truly amazing features that might be coming to the next-generation titles. Among to those features were some stunning ocean simulation physics and FaceWorks, a technique that has been used to render and animate a human head with incredible image fidelity. According to Nvidia, the data from Debevec’s team exceeded 32 gigabytes for a few expressions of Ira (the man who was rendered) and as a result of that, even the most advanced GPUs will choke on the immensity of that. FaceWorks reduced this to a very manageable 300 megabytes. Debevec’s tech demo was running in real-time on a single Nvidia Titan card. You can view a video from that demonstration below, courtesy of YouTube’s ‘Ubergizmo’. Enjoy! Continue reading Next-Generation Features Showcased At GTC2013

Nvidia: Playstation 4 Not Worth The Cost

Nvidia
Since Nvidia provided both Sony and Microsoft chips for their earlier consoles, a lot of gamers believed that the green team will at least offer a chip to be powering one of the next-generation consoles. Well, that isn’t going to happen, as you most probably know that both PS4 and the upcoming next-Xbox will feature a GPU from AMD. However, what has happened and Nvidia is nowhere to be found? According to Tony Tamasi, Senior VP of content and technology at Nvidia, that the green team came to the conclusion that it didn’t want to do the business at the price Sony was willing to pay.
