The evolution of Crysis’s lighting; new lighting and shaders boost the game’s visuals to new levels

There is no denying that Crysis’ vanilla lighting looks a bit dated nowadays. And although you can tweak the SSAO and bring to the table some amazing results, Crytek’s member ‘Wulfen’ uploaded a video that shows off his new lighting system and the amazing combination of it with Cry-Styves’ Shaders. This combo seems quite demanding – if we can judge by the footage that is choppy, though we don’t know the user’s test system – but it surely looks sexy. Our dear friends at PCGames.de have posted some new screenshots from Return to Jurassic Park. Return to Jurassic Park is a Crysis mod for Jurassic Park with a fictional story setting on Isla Nublar 18 years after the first film. Well, at least that’s the plan of the mod team and although it’s clearly stated to be a Crysis mod, word has it that it will be moved to Crysis 2. What’s also really interesting is that one of the ‘compy’ images is actually a ingame shot. It’s hard to believe that a modding team has managed to produce such real-time graphics, so our guess is that it’s a PR trick and nothing more. Still, these renders look lovely. Enjoy! Therefore, don’t expect to see such graphics in video-games anytime soon (or at least until the next-generation of consoles hit the market). No release date has been announced as of yet.
