Chrono Trigger – Patch #3 is now available, featuring UI and battle improvements

Square Enix has released the third update for the PC version of Chrono Trigger. According to the release notes, this patch further updates the UI for those using a controller or keyboard in a number of areas, packs various improvements for battles, and improves gameplay speed in areas where it previously slowed down. New Chrono Trigger patch adds new battle UI and battle pause functionalities

Square Enix has released a new patch for the Steam version of Chrono Trigger. According to the release notes, this patch adds a new battle user interface (UI) based on the look and feel of the original game, an option to select between the UI optimised for controller/keyboard mentioned above, and the current UI optimised for mouse & touch panels, and a new pause button/key that can be used during battle. Upcoming Chrono Trigger patch will bring back its original SNES graphics/visuals/sprites

Square Enix has announced that it will release a number of patches for Chrono Trigger over the coming months. The first patches will be coming later this month and although the publisher did not share their release notes, it did reveal that they will add an option to switch between the current high-resolution graphics and the original SNES visuals. New Chrono Trigger mod removes the blurry filter from sprites, tilesets and worldmap

A few days ago, we informed you about a mod for Chrono Trigger that removed the bilinear filtering from it. However, and even though things got improved, this mod did not remove the filter that was applied to the tilesets and sprites. The PC version of Chrono Trigger disappointed a lot of gamers as it was basically a port of the mobile version. Not only that, but the Steam version retained a filter that made it look awful and blurry, and there was no way to disable it. Square Enix is aware and looking into the issues of Chrono Trigger on the PC

Chrono Trigger on the PC is a mess, there is no doubt about that. While the game suffers from a variety of issues, the biggest one is the ridiculously awful filter that Square Enix used in order to ‘update’ its visuals. The Spanish version of Chrono Trigger asks Steam users not to turn off their phones while saving

We all suspected that the Steam version of Chrono Trigger was just a port from the mobile version. The writing was on the wall however there was no conclusive evidence for such a thing.
