AMD Ryzen 5 CPUs are now available and while slower, they offer a great performance/price ratio

It’s no secret that AMD’s Ryzen 7 CPUs were unable to compete – in gaming – with Intel’s top quad-core and six-core offers. Still, some indicated that AMD’s Ryzen 5 CPUs were the ones actually meant for gaming, that they would be – perhaps – faster than the Ryzen 7 CPUs. Well, AMD’s Ryzen 5 CPUs are currently available and according to third-party benchmarks, these CPUs are slower in gaming than both AMD’s Ryzen 7 and Intel’s CPUs. AMD’s new Ryzen Balanced power plan improves performance on multiple games in Windows 10

In case you didn’t know, Windows 10 defaults at a Balanced Power Plan that automatically balances performance with energy consumption on capable hardware. This basically means that this mode may, in some cases, have an affect on overall performance while playing games. Microsoft has included a High Performance Mode in Windows 10, however we are pretty sure that a lot of PC users are unaware of it. AMD Radeon Crimson ReLive Edition 17.3.3 adds support for multi-GPUs in Mass Effect: Andromeda

AMD has released a new driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the AMD Radeon Crimson ReLive Edition 17.3.3 introduce a Crossfire profile for Mass Effect: Andromeda, and fixes some texture flickering issues in it in multi-GPU configurations. AMD’s Ryzen 5 CPUs for gaming releasing on April 11th, prices leaked

According to the official AMD slides that have been leaked online, AMD’s upcoming quad-core and six-core Ryzen CPUs will be released on April 11th. AMD will offer four CPU models; Ryzen 5 1400,  Ryzen 5 1500X, Ryzen 5 1600 and Ryzen 5 1600X. The first two models will be quad-cores, while the latter two models will be six-cores. AMD reports that the Windows 10 scheduler works perfectly fine for its Ryzen CPUs

A few days ago, a lot of websites claimed that the Windows 10 scheduler was not working correctly for AMD’s Ryzen CPUs. According to those reports, the underwhelming gaming performance they’ve experienced could be influenced by this potential issue. However, AMD has just revealed that the Windows 10 scheduler is working perfectly fine for its Ryzen CPUs. AMD Radeon Crimson ReLive Edition 17.3.1, improves performance in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

AMD has just released a new driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the AMD Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.3.1 driver offers up to 6% performance improvement (measured on Radeon RX 480) when compared to its previous version, and adds a Crossfire profile for it. AMD’s CEO Lisa Su on Ryzen in gaming: “we’re not going to win every head-to-head”

AMD released a few days ago its new Ryzen CPUs and as we’ve already reported, they were a bit underwhelming in gaming.
