Earlier this week, Fictions released the new action RPG from the developers of the Pokemon game series, Beast of Reincarnation. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it’s time now to benchmark it and examine its performance on PC.
For our benchmarks, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, AMD’s Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, RX 9070XT, as well as NVIDIA’s RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 4090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit, as well as the GeForce 610.88 and the Radeon Adrenalin Edition 26.7.1 drivers.
GAME FREAKS has added a few graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust the quality of Mesh, Shadows, Lighting, Textures, and more. The game also supports NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 3.0. However, there is no support for Frame Gen or Intel XeSS.
Beast of Reincarnation does not have a built-in benchmark tool. So, for my tests, I used the village area. This appeared to be as demanding as the tutorial. It also has numerous enemies, so it should stress both the CPU and the GPU.
Beast of Reincarnation mostly uses six CPU cores/threads. At 1080p/Max Settings, it is also bottlenecked by our CPU and not by our GPU. What’s interesting here, though, is that a quad-core CPU can offer a constant 60FPS experience. That is, of course, if your CPU is of a similar architecture to the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. I did notice some traversal stutters on the quad-core system. However, when using a CPU with over 8 cores/threads, I did not experience any major stutters. I don’t know if the extra cache of the 7950X3D does the trick, but traversal stutters are minimal on my PC system.
At 1080p/Max Settings, all of our GPUs are able to provide a 60FPS experience. Even our NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti manages to hit an average of 73FPS. So, for gaming at 1080p, you won’t need a high-end GPU.
At 1440p/Max Settings, our top five GPUs had no trouble running the game with over 60FPS at all times. The NVIDIA RTX 3080 and AMD Radeon RX 6900XT can also provide a smooth gaming experience, provided you use a G-Sync or a FreeSync monitor.
Finally, for gaming at Native 4K/Max Settings with 60FPS, you will need an NVIDIA RTX 5090 or an RTX 4090. The NVIDIA RTX 5080 can also provide a smooth experience if you use a G-Sync monitor.
Beast of Reincarnation has a Ray Tracing setting that supposedly improves lights and shadows. However, I don’t really see any visual difference between RT On and RT Off.
Here is a comparison screenshot. Even when zooming in, I cannot find any major differences. Performance also remains the same, suggesting that either this Ray Tracing setting may be broken.
Graphics-wise, Beast of Reincarnation looks like an old-gen title. There are a lot of pop-ins, and the lighting feels old-gen-ish. I’m almost certain that the game does not fully use Nanite and Lumen. Not only that, but there are A LOT of low-res textures, even on Max Settings. Seriously, just look at these textures. It’s no exaggeration to call them “PS3 textures.” I can’t believe a 2026 game has textures that look this bad.
All in all, while Beast of Reincarnation can run smoothly on a wide range of GPUs, it does not look particularly impressive. This feels exactly like a UE4 game in UE5. It’s kind of a bummer. But hey, at least it runs great. Well, that is if you have a CPU with an architecture similar to that of an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. I’ve heard that the game can have trouble with less powerful CPUs. However, a modern-day CPU can run it with high framerates!
