AMD has rolled out two new Catalyst drivers for their graphic cards, therefore, PC gamers can choose between the 12.1 WHQL and the 12.2 Preview drivers. According to the release, AMD’s Catalyst 12.1 WHQL fixes the random graphics corruption or game instability that were present in the Crossfire mode of Crysis 2, the random corruption and screen flicker that was present in Dragon Age 2 with Tri-Crossfire enabled and the corrupted water textures in World of Warcraft’s DX9 mode. Were you disappointed by the fact that Alan Wake PC would be coming to you only through the digital distribution way? Well, time to jump up and down as Nordic Games has announced the signing of the publishing deal for the boxed PC version of Remedy’s critically acclaimed psychological action thriller, Alan Wake. According to the publisher, the boxed PC version will include both XBLA DLCs “The Signal” and “The Writer” and further details on the exact release date are to follow, meaning that the boxed version won’t be available at the same time with the digital one, although a March release is expected. Alongside Assassin’s Creed: Revelations’ new, Mediterranean DLC, Ubisoft has released the 1.02 patch for the PC version of the game. This patch was released yesterday for the retail version and is available from here. Steam users had to wait a little bit longer but thankfully, this new update is now available for them too. Naturally, Steam will download along with its DLC, meaning that you will see a 3GB download of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations the next time you start the Steam client. The team behind Multi Theft Auto has released a new version for this amazing mod for GTA: San Andreas. In case you were unaware of, Multi Theft Auto is an open-source software project that adds full on-line gaming support to Rockstar North’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PC game, in which this functionality is not originally found. In other words, it is the first open-source modification that adds a highly customizable network play element to a commercial closed-source single-player PC game, which sounds… intriguing. This is pretty amazing. YouTube’s member ‘samothethief’ is making a mod for Sonic Generations PC with which he plans to port the Sonic Unleashed stages to SEGA’s latest Sonic game. Our dear friends at PCGamesHardware have interviewed Remedy’s Markus Maki. According to Markus, Alan Wake PC takes advantage of quad-cores and occasionally, the game uses more than 4 threads. However, make no mistake here. The engine will not scale that well beyond four cores. Markus claimed that a quad-core PC features ‘a lot of power, and the engine is pretty efficient‘. We’re really curious to find out whether or not those claims are true, so you can expect a PC Performance Analysis when the game is actually released. Today, videogame publisher Iceberg Interactive and UNIGINE Corp., have announced that the naval strategy game ‘Oil Rush’ for PC, Mac and Linux, has gone gold. The game will be available for digital download starting today on various portals throughout the world. Iceberg Interactive will release the boxed retail version of Oil Rush on 24 February 2012 in the UK, Benelux and Scandinavia, with German speaking territories to follow with a fully localized version on 23 March 2012.
