Even though City Interactive has not revealed the latest sales numbers of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, GameStop revealed that City Interactive’s first sniper title has managed to sell over 3 million copies worldwide. Naturally, this cannot come close to the sales of other triple-A, however we have to keep in mind that City Interactive was never a company as ‘powerful’ as EA or Ubisoft. In other words, it’s a pretty impressive number for a new IP. Continue reading Sniper: Ghost Warrior Sales Are Over 3 Million→
Acid Wizard Studio (a team of 3 people from Poland) has released a pre-alpha gameplay trailer for its upcoming title, Darkwood. According to the team, Darkwood is a top-down, oldschool survival horror set in a procedurally generated, open world, and features RPG and roguelike elements, with intense combat and a eerie atmosphere. Darkwood features a hardcore gameplay as it does not provide hand holding, tooltips or linear paths. Players will have to think, learn and adapt in order to survive. The game also comes with permadeath, meaning that if you die, your saved games will get deleted and you will have to start over. It looks pretty cool, so make sure to watch the trailer below. YouTube’s member ‘luishi5000’ has created a gorgeous outdoor environment with the Outerra Engine. luishi5000 made these structures to show off the potential scale of models in Outerra, and these models have baked in ambient occlusion. The total polygon count on the models (combined) is about ~400,000 (triangles) and this scene runs with 60fps at 1080p with a GTX660Ti. Enjoy! It’s really amazing witnessing such detailed environments from 3D artists that surpass those of triple-A titles. Shaun Baker has created a gorgeous environment that is based on the Aliens franchise, an environment that puts to shame those featured in Aliens: Colonial Marines. Imagine if Gearbox’s title looked like that. Man, now that would be awesome. But anyway, alongside Baker’s shots you can find some more from 3D artists SeanO’Connor, Jackson31, rockstar6, Dommel, vemadesign, cmc444, Mr Smo and Boyo. Enjoy! Dean “Rocket” Hall has released a new devblog for the standalone version of DayZ, showcasing 20 minutes of gameplay footage. DayZ Standalone features better visuals than its mod counterpart, though we can see all known ‘issues’ that are present in Bohemia’s ArmA titles – like low-res blurry textures at the distance and flickering objects. Naturally, some of them will be ironed while other won’t be fixed or tweaked (a ‘noisy’ texture would be ideal for the distant textures. After all, that was the technique that a lot of Skyrim modders followed in order to provide a better IQ). Still, DayZ is not popular for its visuals, but for its atmosphere and gameplay mechanics. And thankfully, this standalone version looks even better than its mod version. DayZ Standalone is planned for release later this year. Enjoy! Project CARS is a beauty to behold. Although its driving mechanics are not up to what we’d expect from such a game (and its physics are worse than those featured in Assetto Corsa), Slightly Mad Studios’ racer is the best looking racing game we’ve ever seen. The company has released a new set of community screenshots, showcasing the game’s visuals in all their glory. Enjoy! Continue reading Project CARS – New Community Mind-Blowing Screenshots Released→
Before starting this article, let me tell you that we’ve seen such behaviors in the past on various boards. However, it’s really funny when a developer – that does not reveal his or her true identity – tries to damage control with an anonymous account on either a gaming website or a gaming board/forum. NeoGAF’s member ‘GlassBox’ attempted such a thing and got banned for trying to ‘distort the news aggregate‘ all without actually disclosing to anyone there that he or she works for the ‘company in question.’ Continue reading EA/Maxis employee gets banned on NeoGAF for ‘attempting to distort the news aggregate’→
