Dark Souls 2’s official website has been updated and it seems that the PC version won’t suffer from the atrocity called GFWL. Yeap, this may come as a pleasant surprise, however GFWL’s logo is absent from the official website, suggesting that FromSoftware won’t be using Microsoft’s DRM/Online system. Namco and IGN have released a 12 minutes trailer for Dark Souls 2, featuring in-game action. This video showcases the game’s environments and its combat system. Dark Souls 2 promises to be as hardcore as its predecessor, and while the development team claims that this second part features better visuals… well… it still looks like a blurry fest to us. Harebrained Schemes announced that Shadowrun Returns will be launched this June for the PC. In addition, the development team revealed that pre-orders will open in April 29th, and that the game will be released via Steam. In other words, Shadowrun Returns won’t be DRM-free as it was advertised back in its Kickstarter days. Well okay, a version of it will be distributed for free, however future DLCs will be distributed exclusively via Valve’s distribution service. Good news for PC gamers as Bethesda and Gearbox have released patches for Aliens: Colonial Marines and Dishonored. According to their changelogs, the Aliens: Colonial Marines patch adds the ability to turn off the annoying film grain filter, while the Dishonored patch comes with a lot of bug fixes for both the base game and the Dunwall City Trials. We should note that Dishonored’s update is also available for consoles. Both of these updates will be auto-downloaded next time you start the Steam client. Obsidian Entertainment released the first footage of Project Eternity, which runs on Unity; showcasing the game’s water, trees, day/night and lighting system. Project Eternity is a 2D game, and looks bloody amazing. In fact, Obsidian has managed to create one of the best isometric prototypes – visually – we’ve ever seen, and the animation system is great even at this state of the game.
