Gears of War E-Day feature-4

Gears of War: E-Day Runs With Over 60FPS at 4K/Ultra on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 With DLSS 4.5 Quality

The Early Access for the Gears of War: E-Day Open Beta begins tomorrow. However, some players already got access to it. Thanks to that, we now have the first performance numbers for the NVIDIA RTX 5090. So, let’s take a closer look.

Gears of War: E-Day will have a built-in benchmark tool. This is the first time we’ve seen it, and it will also be the one we’ll use for our tests.

So, YouTube’s ‘Elegant Egotist’ has shared two benchmarks. The first is at 4K on Ludicrous Settings with DLSS 4.5 Quality. The second is at 4K on Ultra Settings with DLSS 4.5 Quality. For what it’s worth, the beta supports AMD FSR 4, Intel XeSS, and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5. However, it does not support Frame Gen for any of the upscalers.

At 4K/Ludicrous Settings with DLSS 4.5 Quality, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 pushes an average of 45FPS. As I’ve said in my previous article, these are ridiculously demanding settings. So, you should only use them alongside DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Gen. 45FPS is a healthy base framerate for Frame Gen X2, X3, or X4.

At 4K/Ultra Settings with DLSS 4.5 Quality, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 pushes an average of 67FPS. From what I could see, the game does not drop below 60FPS. So, if you own an RTX 5090 and want to play the new Gears of War at 4K/Ultra with 60FPS, you’ll have to use DLSS 4.5 Quality Mode.

So, contrary to Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day will be way more demanding. For reference, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 was able to run Halo: Campaign Evolved with 60FPS at Native 4K/Ultra.

The good news is that from what I’ve seen, Gears of War: E-Day looks amazing. This will be easily one of the best-looking games of 2026. So, having high GPU requirements at 4K/Ultra is understandable. The big question is if the game can scale down via its in-game graphics settings.

We also have performance figures for two other NVIDIA GPUs. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 can run the game with 40-50FPS at 4K/Ultra with, most likely, DLSS 4.5 Quality Mode. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070Ti can also run it with 40FPS at 4K/Ludicrous Settings with DLSS 4 Ultra Performance Mode.

Microsoft plans to release Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. You can also find its official PC system requirements here. The Open Beta will be available to everyone on August 13.

Stay tuned for more!
